Can someone please tell me how to go about changing your avie's name. I know I saw it somewhere in here before. I promised I searched... I am blond but I am not quite sure what *bling whore* has to do with changing your name. Do you know if you have to call LL directly or submit a ticket and what is the charge to change it? Thank you for your help... Merry Christmas to all *believers* Pep (unless they find out your name means something rude in another language, for example, did you know that "Kira" means **** in Welsh?) _____________________

This is from the Knowledge Base,
"Your Second Life avatar and account name is your account, for all intents and purposes. Your avatar's appearance, inventory, friends, L$ balance, etc. are all tied to the name you've chosen. As a result, while you may create additional Second Life accounts, Linden Lab is unable to rename an existing account. " In other words, if you want a different name, you need to create a new account. If you do create a new account, you can easily transfer your money, sell your land to your new self, but you might lose some of your inventory (whatever is non-transferable). |

You cannot. LL claims it will have horrible consequences on inventory, etc etc. Torley was the exception.

However, you are allowed to pay for a custom, vanity surname. ($100 up front plus $50/year maintenance fee, or something like that.) If you buy your vanity surname, would they go to the trouble of renaming an existing account, given the money one has to shell out for it, or is one required to create a brand new account?

Premium members just got a questioner and one of the questions was weather LL should allow a onetime name change. They're thinking about it.

I know someone who had the first letter of their name capitalized....
(it was lowercase when he made it) and even that caused some problems with his inventory, and they warned him it could, he did not care, he wanted the capital first letter... (so that is one instance I know of that they will do a somewhat change, but that is the only situation I am aware of) _____________________

I've asked the same question many times, including contacting LL and offering to pay a service fee for the ability to change my name. "Lolita" really isn't working out as well as I thought it would when I picked it on a whim over 2 years ago.
I've got too much no-trans inventory to start over with a new avie. |

I don't think there's any way to warn new users that they're going to be walking around like a person with whatever name they choose. |

And yet, when it serves their purposes, they have. What they mean is, we won't be bothered. (I will concede the likelihood that they have a poor design and when they need to make the change, they go in and change attributes to move un-trans inventory over to a new av and all, rather than just change a primary). |

I am premium, I did not get the questionnaire I was sent an email a few days ago to click a link to the questionnaire. The questions were ranked on importance, but one other that caught my attention was increasing the free land usage from 512 to 1024. _____________________

You're not the only one who didn't get one.
Maybe they only sent it out to certain members or random members.(And as an aside... I've seen a poster keep saying Pep... What's it mean? I seen it in a few other posts I've been going through.) _____________________

"A friends'" first avatar in 2006 had a rude name but could be logged in for at least a year and a half, then it was disabled. Then "my friend" while checking through his accounts noticed his first had been disabled, wanting back the older born on date so that people did not think he was an noob LL changed the name to something more wholesome after submittal of some identity verification, in this case a birth certificate. Inventory appeared to remain in tact. This was done by ticket and took a couple of days.
The name should actually be irrelevant as the key is king of the who you are in terms of the database thing. _____________________

Yes, there have been a few that were forced to change their name to something not offensive (defined by LL of course), but it is not something that the average person can *request*.
