Have any of you had a job in RL that you messed up on? Maybe working at McDonalds and forgot to set one more burger patty down that caused a customer to “pull forward’? Or maybe you were late due to traffic to a sales meeting and did not get the sale. Maybe you were caught up in a Daycare fiasco that lead you to be late. Maybe your department suddenly was short staffed and you had to take on the duty of 3 people. Maybe orders came down from above that made you work on a planned day off. Imagine the anger…imagine the turmoil. You cannot tell me that this has not happened to you.
I see the Lindens as doing their job admirably. I Believe they do try to their utmost ability. So I say Hear Hear to the Lindens. Stay focused and know that you do have people rooting for you.
(You are right Ephraim. My Apologies)

Every Linden that I've come across, when I've nedeed help, has been excellent, and I have a great deal of respect for them. The powers that be at LL are different though, because they keep on making decisions against the users - not all decisions, but many of them - so I have little to no respect for LL as a company.

There were a couple now-former Lindens I had troubles with, and there is one currently on staff that I'm reaccessing my feelings about right now. Still, my dealings with LL's staff has been largely very good in the last three years.

They stop me on the way to school and take my lunch money practically every day. Other that this they're all fine.

A friend and I sent in ARs last night for a crashed helicopter that has been hanging in mid-air for weeks and was ruining the view into sunset. While we were still standing there and discussing stuff, hardly five minutes later, a Linden popped over to return the copter to its owner. Made us gawk a bit and say thanks nicely.

Yeh I wanna add kudos. Lindens have been really helpful when I've called upon them or someone has on my behalf, all of late - I didn't really ever need to do that til lately.
So here here Lindens, kudos for ya. I know the natives have been restless due to Zindra and all of that. But we're "just mad at the dirt." (gotta love that movie)

I'll probably get my legs smacked for this but ...
It should be 'hear, hear' and technically the OP shouldn't say it since she is declaring her appreciation for the Lindens while the rest of us use it to voice our agreement with the sentiments of her post.
Hear, hear, by the way.

I was going to ask "Where? Where?"
And see if anyone other than Pep caught on.

I'll consider my legs soundly trounced. Really I'm ashamed for even mentioning it - it's the kind of thing I harangue Pep for indeed.

Hear, hear, by the way. I always wondered about that. Is it a derivation of "Hear ye, hear ye?" I don't smack anyone, unless they want me to! (And usually not even then)

From: Limonella Sorbet Is it a derivation of "Hear ye, hear ye?" I believe it goes back a few hundred years to "hear him, hear him" which parliamentarians used to express their agreement. I've also seen something about "hear ye, hear ye" but that doesn't make sense to me in this context since town criers would use it to draw attention to an item of news or an announcement they were preparing to deliver.

Alright, but where did yhey get "Oyez, oyez" from? A new example of the reason why I have no respect for the LL powers that be is the new resident MOTD ad on the login screen. It favours one resident and is against *all* of the rest of the people who rent out homes.

Yes that does make more sense and I have seen such scenes in films - old parliament meetings I guess. But it never shed any light on how it was meant since all they said was "hear, hear". (Maybe if I had enabled the dvd captions.) Also language does morph over time, so eventually a misuse can become the new proper usage. Another reason I was unsure. Here is another one: "say my piece" or "say my peace"? I vote the former because it would seem it's derived from "piece of my mind." Yes? No? I understand about being exact with such things. I even appreciate the chance to learn the right definitions/usage. My personal pet peeve is when people type "per say." It's "per se" of course. But I don't have the heart to say so unless asked.

From: Limonella Sorbet Here is another one: "say my piece" or "say my peace"? "My peice" is "my share" or "my part". "Say my peice" is just a straightforward variation of "take my turn". "Say my peace" makes about as much sense as "take my tern". I don't understand what kind of birdbrain gets confused about these kinds of things.

From: Phil Deakins Alright, but where did yhey get "Oyez, oyez" from? 'Oyez' is ancient French for 'hear ye' and it was traditionally used to announce the opening of court proceedings when English law was practised in that language. It was also used by town criers as a variation of 'hear ye'. From: Limonella Sorbet I vote the former because it would seem it's derived from "piece of my mind." Yes? No? I think you have two quite different expressions mixed here. Threatening to give someone "a piece of your mind" means that you might "tell them off" or scold them. Whereas your "peace of mind" describes the state of being untroubled or undisturbed by your thoughts.

I quite like this, as it should keep them all on their toes. I especially like the implied fate of Lindens with whom Mari has troubles. I must steal this.

Agreed ..individual Linden employees have been very good, unfortunately they're on the front line and take the most Flak. It's the LL policymakers that really need shooting!

Almost without exception, individual Lindens are always really cool. The trend of late (or maybe I'm just now noticing it) to ignore resident complaints is a little troubling, though. There seems to be a new corporate ostridge-head-in-the-sand culture which I really don't care for. By themselves, they're great - it's when they herd that they turn into jerks. From: Qie Niangao I especially like the implied fate of Lindens with whom Mari has troubles. Yeah. I'm a little nervous about responding to her posts now.. Such power in somebody so short!!
