Im wondering if this is ME or if this is SL, ok..The past few days, walking is like walking in quicksand, and sinking through the floor crap again. Cant STOP walking, too. Now, today, making a skirt, clicking and holding shift to select multiple items to link and unlink, DOESNT work, keeps going to ONE item..FINALLY i did it, one item at a time, had the skirt on..unattched it, and poof..its gone..not in inventory, not anywhere. Also, when I move objects in edit..they pop back where they were to start with..god, its frustrating. The game is running like a 90 yr old racehorse with asthma, and Im wondering if other ppl are having bad problems like me, then do the forces that are behind this game have a CLUE whats going on?

The only issues I've noticed are with rezzing objects. Sometimes I get a message that it has timed out, sometimes I get a message that it failed to rez and sometimes it takes around 5 minutes for the object to appear.

I've about had it with script problems this weekend. And I know these are good scripts - they worked just fine last week.

have not been on today, but getting ready to log in, but now am wondering if I really want to...

over the last 4 years I have left a couple times and then returned. Leaving and returning gives me a better insight as to SL performance. My system has improved each time but SL has deteriorated beyond belief.

Right now I cant stay logged in without crashing for longer than a hour. Im sure contacting LL would not solve my problems. Im running 4GB ram, a pentium dual core, dual 8800GT nvidia cards with SLI tech asus mobo, liquid cooling, also with cable. Im sure its my system hehe I dont look for SL to improve since its constantly trying to add more.

hmm what to build today..ok..a wall..yes let's build a wall.

wand the ground..i hear nothing....a friend ports in and we decide to chat..gah that was a good joke..wonder where he got that coat.very sharp!..5 minutes later i hear a rumble and trip over a small wooden cube.

Where did that come from?...oh..that's right...ok..a wall..yes let's build a wall.

Control + shift + drag out the box to increase its size...perfect!!...((answers an IM and turns to get a better perspective of where this wall should be placed.))

....Trips over a small wooden cube..Where did that come from?...oh..that's right...ok..a wall..yes let's build a wall.
Control + shift + drag out the box to increase its size..again...((this time stands and watches to see it morph back...success!..it stays.))

Now to place it..i need this wall to seperate this room from that one..((selects the wall and raises it into place))...someone or something moves it back.
..((selects the wall and raises it into place))...someone or something moves it back.
..((selects the wall and raises it into place))...someone or something moves it back.
..((selects the wall and raises it into place))...someone or something moves it back.

...((this time stands and watches to see it moved back...success!..it stays.))

Now..texturing...ahh my favorite part...hm.... brick?...no...wood?..yea..weathered wood..very nice!..((alligns the texture..offsets to make sure no seams are showing))
((gets a group announcement on how the club is jumping ..come on down!!))..looks back at the wooden wall that isn't there and ..
....Trips over a small wooden cube..Where did that come from?...oh..that's right...ok..a wall..yes let's build a wall.

I have clients and self imposed deadlines that were made before all this went screwy..I really hope this is fixed.

SL is no "freelunch" first you would have to ask yourself, are you a paying member? if not, thres no room to complain. Second, if you are a paying member, your paying a max of what? $9.95 a month for this platform? hardly a drop in the bucket to a enviroment that offers you so much more than say other MMOG's that charge 15.95 to 19.95 a month that dont give you the ability to: Create Content, create your enviroment, make money etc..

For all the downfalls SL has its still offfers far more than anything else at a modest price. With that being said, I have issues myself, but they are related to unethical business practices. thise are the true things LL has to take care of, the ocasional disconnect while teleporting, or failure to link prims, is a annoyance more than a issue.

SL is no freelunch, nor is it a 5star freelunch, but what it is, is something you stay logged into, because if you didnt , you wouldnt be here posting... Old saying, don't bite the hand that feeds you...

I've gotten a great Deal of headway in yet another complex Build, Using one of the Public Sandboxes (reputed to be the worst places for lag, bugs Etc) and i would still be Building strong right now but for two things. An *sshat grifer with his particle Mines, and my RL work schedule.

SL's General performance hasn't been Bad, and i've been here for Over Thre years. I get lag where i expect it, On Script or prim Intensive Sims, and land Plots. But, On the whole, apart from th usual trouble times, before and after Update installations i find the running of SL to be Fairly Stable. My Home sim Lately has been a Real Pig for Crashing, But that problem has since been ironed out.

I've said it before, Updating ANY piece of Highly complex software like SL (And is there anything else Really like SL out there?) is a tricky business. One dot, dash, or space out of place can have the most Bizarre effects. The only thing I've seen that has had a negative effect on SL's running has been the increased player population, all wearing bling and 150+ scripted accessories. Rapid growth. That has been the biggest trouble maker. I think If LL froze creation of new accounts for perhaps two months, it might give the programming a Chance to Catch Up, but i don't view this at all as a Viable option. What LL is doing here is New, No one has ever done anything quite like this before, so I expect problems, and take them in stride.

Is SL a 90 year old horse? No, it's a prototype for a New kind of Internet and like all Prototypes, as it is refined, New problems will arise that need new solutions and That takes Time and Patience.

Angel.

I'm paying hundreds of us a month... so do a lot of other people in the forums, does that give me any more right to complain than another person? If so, I hereby grant my 'complain rights' to everybody in this thread ;)

IMHO everybody who contributes to this world, either financially, creatively or socially has all
the right to complain about bad service. LL only makes a piece of software, they create the world.

I agree the people who are the major investors in SL have a right to have a voice, but the average avatar statistically is not a paying member. These are the people that will campout and save a few hundred L$ beg borrow or steal in some cases, buy a BIAB, and drop a squatter shop on someones property. While I do agree SL has its problems, If its unbareble the easiest rememdy is to go to Control Panel, Add/Remove installed Programs, and Remove Second life. dont know what it is for a MAC I pay thousands a month to LL, but it doesnt give me a louder voice unfortunately, those of us the ARE heavily invested are not so concerned with the minor annoyances as we are concerned about the bad business practices, I think most of the bigger investors can agree with me on that sediment... so you dont hear me bitchin about geting DC'ed or when my prims arent linking, or when my feet sink into the ground, or when my shoes are up my ass, thats little stuff.. BS gaming of the search results is serious, Landbots are serious, content theft is seroius, those are the things we should bitch about

Seems like someone should be able to start an objective Better Buisness Bureau group where High Quality Content Original creators could apply for their seal of approval.

If the buisness met certain standards they could be placed on this SLs BBB Certified Board.

I know as a consumer in SL too..if Im alerted to the theft of someones content i steer away from even visitng that persons store.

Would be good for the average SL consumer to be able to check to see if this product or buisness person was BBB certified.
Would be better for that seal of approval to be coveted by merchants and buisness owners.

Is there any thing like that in SL already?

Not fit for purpose?

Hi, Well its taken me a while to get to this forum this weekend what with the 503 Levi message that tells me I can't.I have just read the post about resting and rejoining and I agree Sl is getting worse to the point where it can become virtually unusable. I have upgraded several times to improve the speed and function but to no success. I am thinking of quitting for a while to calm down and use my computer at the speed i am used to in EVERY other program bar SL. I am tired of the sad throw away apologies that we are fed daily while they bang on things. In truth the game does not live up to the blurb ,its broken, and I find myself getting in a foul mood constantly.I have downed tools tonight as it' broke again,I will pop a pill and chill.I think this game is over hyped and does not do the job it claims, in short ,not fit for purpose.Having got that off my chest a pound to a penny I am online again tomorrow I am sad. Yes and no. The organization that exists carries a dodgy reputation for dispute resolution, is too expensive and has not provided much assurance of being uncorruptable and impartial.

I've toyed on and off with making a serious go at doing it right, and by right I mean fully transparent just like real life BBB.

well from what I've been seeing about content theft in SL..seems like its something we need desperately.

Maybe have a board of members who are all respected buisness people in SL but do not "need" to use the service themselves?...basically board members who are beyond reproach.

Make the membership and use of the service strictly tentative...free....and open to review at the board members discretion?

If someone is know to be a thief in SL..that buisness being reported to the group would basically black ball them in the Creator Community.(of course once allegations are verified).

I think if someone smart starts it up..it's quite doable. Might be a natural repellant to content theft too.

I think a board of directors is an absolute must – and it needs to be under the leadership of someone willing to put their RL name on it and take full accountability. We’re talking about people’s business reputations here and I think it deserves that level of transparency.

If done right, there is a website with a rockin database and ability to search by avatar name, business name, product name, or product category. There needs to be a way for customers to file a complaint if they feel their issue has not be resolved first through direct contact with the vendor and it must be CLEAR that it is expected that they first try to get things resolved before going to the website. There needs to be a auto-notify for the business owner that a complaint was filed and the vendor needs to be able to put in a response. Lastly, somebody has to verify that a resolution was reached.

The flaw in this plan is actually getting people to know it is there and use it. How many people who were purchasing the Nature’s Miracle Prim Baby in a Box Kit would have bothered to go check a website to see if any of the vendors they were considering was reputable? How many people are going to stop and check a website before impulse buying a new outfit? Yeah, so we hand out little plaques for people’s stores…easy to copy and who the hell wants to police that?

It would need a lot of strategy to make it really effective in a world where very few do research before they buy, only a fraction read these forums and many don’t even speak English.

A 90 year old racehorse would at one time have been fast, sleek, elegant and powerful.

So no.

There was and is still a group, but early in thier forming they proved that they are corrupable from the start, not to mention taking membership fee's and ousting those supposed members with no cause other than diference of opinion among members and nothing the do with business...and no dont expect your membership fee's back( we are not talking 100's $L ), self appointed leaders, favortism and protection is all in thier bag of trick, I doubt the founder intended that, but in hard times some pious people lose that piety

i can think of ONE SL buisness man that I would trust but i'm sure he wouldn't have the time to get himself involved and i would be shocked if he agreed to allow his name to be attached to anything that wasn't created by him and his brainchild.

He's been ingame since 03 and theres not a bad thing i can say about this person..that being said..i guess we would need someone who "cared".

I dont WANT to uninstall, I want it to run like they advertise, and like it did just a week ago! I want what I pay money for. I pay them to provide ME with a stable enough platform to do the things they SAY you can do, which is build, walk chat..that's really NOT too much to ask.Yes, Im mad, yes, Im bitching..and I feel I have a right to. If you dont like to hear me gripe, then, well go to a nice, happy post. Im not happy ATM. Im sorry, I really dont like coming across as a royal biotch..sighs..I just wondered if anyone else was experiencing problems, or if it was just me..that's all..and well..sure would like for the SL gods to have a heads up that their flock was having some difficulties. There, my rant..I apologize if I bothered anyone..whew, I feel better.
