So basically you are making libelous statements attacking my credibility while in the same thread stating you are not capable of reading or understanding the code involved.

The code detects the radar cryolife uses. The person exhibiting this behavior must be an avatar and must be in the same region as the detector. If you set it up certain ways it might teleport home and/or parcel ban the avatar exhibiting the behavior of cryolife. At minimum it will send you enough IMs to let you know who is exhibiting cryolife behavior so you can deal with it. It is worthwhile to point out estate and parcel bans have been broken for some time so it really doesn't matter. People can come and go as they please. See http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4632 for details and the amount of time this has been going on. So seriously not only does LL allow cryolife and all the other purpose built counterfeiting viewers (because, as LL says, they could be used for legitimate purposes) there is literally not a thing you or anyone can do or say about it.

The code is open source and published. So if you have questions or concerns then don't take my word for it. Hire an expert scripter to study the code. Just make sure you get the right code from the right place. And if the expert scripter has input for the code they are more than welcome to participate in making it better.

Personally I view this entire thread as a defamation attack. Now why would anyone be attacking someone that helps designers prevent cryolife users from hanging around? What is the motivation here? I would love to know. After all the guy that wrote cryolife is the one who explained how to detect it so if the cryolife fans have a beef then they need to go take it up with the cryolife author that is now purported by numerous people to be on the emerald team.

Oh come off it. A person came here to ask a legitimate question about a viewer. There was no libel or defamation, except maybe on your part.

It's hardly surprising that the Emerald Life viewer can detect Cryo Life....considering it's creator now works for Emerald. He should be able to know how to detect his own Viewer i.e what channels it uses -.....it's funny how Emerald Life can't detect any of the other malicious 3rd Party viewers though! lol
Not really. As I understand it, the guy who made CryoLife deliberately put that in, he says precisely in case the use of his viewer became too much of a problem. Since the makers of other nasty viewers aren't, for some reason, as cooperative about allowing other people to detect when people are using their horrid viewers, Emerald can't detect them.

Well, I tell a lie. I detected someone using one of the newer nasty viewers; he was behaving a bit suspiciously and he rather put the cherry on the cake by changing his viewer identification, as far as Emerald was concerned, from Emerald to Official Viewer to VLife to Unknown back to Emerald as I watched. So I booted and banned him, reported my suspicions to LL in the form of an AR, and his account was no more, in a matter of hours.

I just went back and reread everything that Treasure posted and cannot find even a hint of an attack on your credibility. She came here needing info and was hoping that you, as the creator, would maybe post to answer her questions.

I'm guessing that someone has given you hell over this and you are now on the defensive automatically whenever any thing even remotely close is mentioned -- even legitimate questions. Might be time to take a deep breath or two and not automatically assume that everyone is out to get you.

Interesting thread. When I started reading I think I knew about as much about this subject as Treasure did when she wrote the original post. Now I have some idea of what you are all talking about but I suspect Ann would be surprised at how dumbed-down of an explanation I needed (and probably still do.)

Sometimes things are exactly as they appear to be.

You seem to be thinking Treasure is some sort of ebol scripter who is trying to entrap you into making a false claim. Not so. Treasure keeps busy with her more socially-focused SL endeavors, so has not followed the trail of bloody waffles left by LL's responses to content theft. Ergo, she (and others on this thread) are understandably puzzled by your defensive tone. That's it.

I almost jumped in early with the simple answer "Cryoban and similar products are now nearly obsolete - they will only catch lazy copyists who haven't bothered to upgrade their client in 4 months. But, if it makes you feel better, by all means deploy whichever you like, just keep an eye on the sim performance stats." But I was interested to hear what you'd say, which was as usual educational.

*I* am thinking that you're so burned out by questions about this that you jumped to a conclusion about the thread without carefully reading. At least, that could be your story *smiles*.
