FD you hit the nail on the head, many many ppl are quick to criticize the work of another... but.. never really take the time to try it themselves....

The thing is most people it seems want items for free. Why pay for something when you can get it for free?
My outfit for what I spent on even at 40L, with all the money I spent on producing it even I am not making profit on it. I would have to sell numerous ones before the profit for all the endless hours and uploads I spent on it to get it to the point of final product.
Not that it matters in the big picture but at certain point it really does get annoying to spend so many hours on something and literally no one sees the quality or time spent on or even appreciates it and it does get to point where it starts to feel very personal.
I have numerous friends who bought entire line of clothing items from more established designer who I see tons of flaws in their clothes but they rarely will buy item from me but expect it for free but have no problem dropping 10,000L to 2,000L at that designers store that charges 300 to 500L per outfit.

I understand. I'm not complaining. I'm just letting you know that you're excluding a potential market that (for example) can't wear long sleeves or trousers unless they can shorten or loosen them to accommodate prim paws. There are likely similar issues with skirts and tails, but Argent doesn't have to deal with that problem.

Now for guys, well, we can't afford to be so picky. There's not nearly as many good clothes for guys, free or not. So I've occasionally modded my avatar to fit an outfit I liked. There's just so many free female outfits, though...

No- no- it's not the outfit- it's the picture of the outfit! You have others cause you have shown them before and it is a nice one- its the picture that is screwy

I intentionally make my male clothes unisex because very few people buy men's clothes.
There just isn't much a market it in producing men's clothes.
The truth is Men are just not willing to spend the money on clothes and few do want particular type of clothing.
My friend sale more for hand drawn textile fashions because she is doing prim skirts and female dresses then I ever see in any given month because I tend to do different type geared towards pants and shirts.

Hmm I don't see it I guess. I hate making displays Amaranthim. They make me grumpy and emo. It often seems like no matter what I do someone will see fault in it though and it gets to point I just want to do what I want to do for myself and not bother sharing anything I make. By the time I am six times better at stuff I bet I won't want to share or sell anything the way things are going.

The truth is I am not willing to put out money for high end skins or any more money doing this.
I just gotten to grumpy to care at this point.
I make things, I don't mind showing others, they will probably see faults in them, I am tired of stressing out myself over perfection and there always going to be someone who will out do me, who going to always have more confidence, a better sale techinique and I just don't care.
I do this for fun, if people don't appreciate what I am doing when I share it they can ignore it.
But I do know that 500 to 1000L$ here and there can and does add up.
I don't buy things unless I absolutely need too. I absolutely refuse to spend more on poses, skins and hair then I have too, because I am literally spent all I can on land, tier and upload fees and I literally don't have any more to spend. If I can't make or trade for it I don't need it.
I just don't have any more to spend.

The SinSkin island went away and I had to do a lot of digging to find them in world. Of course that was more than a week ago (since I'm locked out all my information is old). Might have closed in the last month.

I did find them in a store near Pixel Dolls the last time I looked in world. Not the Pixel Dolls skin (the name of which escapes me, though I do have some of those skins), but actual SinSkins.

Oh, and Pixel Dolls has a huge collection of free clothing on OnRez. I like those free clothing items. Shirts, pants, dresses, etc.

I understand what you are saying, however the sample items are not meant to be fully customizable, otherwise NOTHING would ever sell cuz they would get what they want for free

also add to that, I can not please everyone, so I do what feels right for me
if that means I might lose potential customers then that is what happens, as I have no way of knowing what each and every person wants...

Sorry, I wish they'd expire those damn things. I've cleared it out.

No problem I just delete mail whenever I get it to prevent that from happening.
I would pretty much responded with I am sort at the point where I am too grumpy to be perfect any more. I have stupidly literally spent thousands of hours and dollars on trying to create the perfect canvas and creations in the last few years here.
I have realized it was stupid to do and I won't be doing any more.
And I don't have money to spend 100 to 250 a month in SL when I am living on disability and I need things like healthy food, vegetables, vitamins and things to help me from not getting sicker in my first life. A 19 usd dollar skin would buy me groceries or pay tier for 2 months and I can't spare it any more.
And this point I literally don't have whole lot more energy to spend on it.
And in order to create and have fun doing it, I can't be perfect any more, it just driving me nuts.
If things I make money great, if they don't so what, I really don't care any more but I am not willing to stress myself out for something I am getting very little in return for nor give everything I make away for free either to everyone who ask any more.

One other thing, as a RL friend on SL told me, if someone is spending money on SL, it is not a waste, it is just entertainment. We all have our entertainment dollars we spend.
While I don't pesonally see the point in spending a fortune on SL real estate, I also understand that some people enjoy that.
I can see plunking down a few L$ on clothes or skins for sure...

The reason why they can have afford to have free accounts is there is lot pressure to have nice things for your avatars look nice and it gets ridiculous at times.
And people buy into it, like I did and end up spending thousands of dollars and some people like myself really truly can't afford it.
Stupidest thing was going through 20,000L$ on scripts I don't even understand how to use, that waited for bit longer and spent some time understanding script library I could have found for free. If you don't know how to do scripts, spending 20,000 L$ on scripted tools that don't have easy to use interaction is waste. Same with avatar related items, poses, sex animations clothes and textures, I don't know how much I spent on those items but probably way too much and main it was because I didn't know how to make them most of them were crap and just took up inventory space when I really wanted to do was create things.
The entire system is set up for this type of thing, it seems like mainland is intentionally horrible in majority of areas that if you're really serious about having good place to role play, create you either need to rent from community that fits in your needs or buy large amount of land. Lot of us who bought into land when situations changed, needed to relocate often lost big chunks of L$ we spent.
It this whole hype if you want to have successful business you got to spend, spend and spend in order to earn anything back.
Well you know what I have spent all I want too, I don't want to spend any more then what I am paying now, if I have to spend more I just have to create somewhere else.
That sort of where I am leaning at this point.
I will never create "perfect" enough to compete with the Professional designers out there and I don't want too.
They will always be able to out spend, out do me every time and I can't compete but that doesn't mean I need to stop creating or give everything I make for free.
Because it's like camping, if people can get things for free they just depend on it they never feel they have to do anything else.
Maybe some day I will be well enough to go back to college and compete as 3d content developer but my first life health needs to improve before I can reach that place.
