Why are people selling and not telling the truth about the os they are selling

lots of os for sale and the landlords are not disclosing the increase coming in January and even worse in july. I have been looking at them and the landlords are not telling the truth. Why is there nothing to warn people, this seems very wrong to me.

Wonder if these are the same estate owners who were dishonest about the capabilities of OSs when they leased them out in the first place.

Hmmmm.

I'm sure you don't actually mean it that way Phil, but in the context of the thread is comes out as "Screw the innocent customer if they are unaware"

Surely it's for the seller to be honest

Now you come to mention it, I've seen you barking :) But that was different. LL stated exactly what was on sale, and what it could used for, and people bought accordingly, because they knew exactly what they were buying. Then LL changed it. But let's not go there in this thread.

And the stars burned bright, the oceans roiled, great signs and omens were seen in the land. Chris and Phil agreed on something.

Yes!! Caveat FREAKING EMPTOR.

I was the buyer, I bewared, and now I get to view this whole thing from an outsider's perspective. What was everybody ELSE doing? This is my frustration here.

I may be in the minority, but I actually have no idea how to tell the difference between an OS or not :o

It strikes me as being no different to when I bought 2 expensive sofas a few years ago. "Order now for a guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas". So I did, and they were delivered accordingly. What I wasn't told was that a few days after Christmas I could have got them at half the price in the sale. They were not obliged to tell me that, of course. In the case OSs, it's known very widely now that the tier is going up, and I don't see that it's the seller's responsibility to state it. With the sofas I couldn't have known that they would be selling for the half the price a few days after I received them, and still it wasn't their responsibility to tell me, but with OS sims, anybody can know what's ahead if they do just a little bit of research. Also, it could be that the sellers are discussing that aspect with potential buyers, but I see no reason to advertise it.

Yes of course the buyer should try to inform themselves.

But this in no way diminishes the fact that anyone selling OS without informing the buyer of issues and impending changes is a total dipshit.

We are rebelling against the lies told by LL. It isn't the price increase that pisses me off. It is the blatant falsehoods they are telling along with it.

But as for you being aware, so were most other people. After all we did rely upon the statements and actions of LL when we entered into contract with them. Now they are wanting to change the contract without giving us an out.

This has nothing to do with the entirely separate OP question of people selling OS without disclosure.

As I understand the OP, this thread has to do with residents ripping off other residents, and not with LL ripping off residents.

LL said in the information about Opensims from the get go they were to be used for light use only.
Where is the lie there?
They shouldn't have increased the prim count or allowed people to continue to use the sims
as they have when they realized people were renting them out from get go.
But Residents misleading other Residents after the fact in my opinion is worse.
Denial around Opensims and what they were intended for originally is absolutely mind blowing.

Doubling the prim count. Giving residents who ask about activities the nod of the official head to carry them out. Selling them as singles, unattached to other sims. These all point to LL acceptance and even encouragement of what the residents considered light use.

Now they come up and claim they never meant them to be used this way? Now they say we are breaking the grid? Now they are lying. PERIOD

Yes they shouldn't have done that and I don't know why when they didn't want
people to use it for anything other then light use.
That is confusing but they didn't say you can do whatever you want with Opensims and
rent them out like regular sims either.
But continuing to do so and misleading other Residents after the fact the policy is going to be changed and not informing new renters is out right lying, dishonest and stealing.

the lies are that the seller is selling because soon the sims will be unaffordable to most normal peeps. They are selling the os as residential lands when it's not anymore.

I have seen only one seller telling the truth and telling customer about the increase in there ad. I see a seller with lots of parcel divided into small lots and selling as residential.

yes buyer can be aware but new people dont know all these things or the differences in OS and full sims.

Seller are dumping there sims on innocent peeps knowing full well of the changes to come and knowing these peep wont be able to afford them when prices goes sky high

They are selling the os as residential lands when it's not anymore.
But they *are* for residential (and business) use. Those that will be called homesteads are for those purposes. Only those that will be 750 prims will not be for residential or business use. All the OS sims that currently exist will be called homestead sims on Jan 1, so they are for residential and light business use. The only thing that will change is that the tier will go up $20 a month, and I don't accept that people who can afford $75/month now can't afford $95/month - not in general anyway. Many don't want the increase to $95 but that's different.

Never mind the chicken heads - where's the antidote? The sky is truly falling in when Chris and I agree.
