I'm genuinely suprised that they've gone as far as they have. It's almost a complete u-turn as far as the original use of OS sims is concerned. They are the same as they always were except for some hard limits.

But I wonder why they've dropped the prims to 750 when they used to be at least double that. The number of sims per CPU is yet to be decided and I wonder if they are considering having more than 4 per CPU. Perhaps they want to see how things go for a while at 4 per CPU before making that decision.

*shrugs* This is a bit better than a flat hike in the price across the board. And akin to what some of the OS owners were asking for. I admit that the prim limit is a bit low.. I think lower than the old OS prim limit?

This is the one part that confuses me: why not take it back to the 1-something-k limit?

My take is (and my fear/prediction was) that they simply want to kill off actual openspaces. 1/20 the prims, 1/10 the avatars for 1/4 price... that is just not viable.

Well, while there's typically a maximum of 3 people on my sim, I'm using 3000 of my allocated 3750 prims...shame on me.

That means I move to Homestead and a rate increase.

Quite sadly, it also means I'll be abandoning January 1. Happy Birthday to me.

Something I just thought of for people with 1 or 2 that they are abandoning.

Is it possible to sell them at a discount to those with 3 who want to upgrade to a full sim?

At least that way you get something out of it, and the other person gets their upgrade cheaper than the $250/per missing OS that they would have paid.

I have never seen LL make a U - turn of this magnitude as a direct response to customer feedback. A positive step in the right direction.

U-turn?? Going ahead with the price increase for the existing product and introducing a brutally overpriced water sim?

Last week they announced that ALL OS's would increase by $50

Today they did a U-Turn and have now announced that OS's will remain at the standard price.

By OS I mean an openspace with low usuage. i.e. the product that LL advertised.

That is a U Turn.

Not so great for those of you that abused the open spaces (Homesteads) but thats the risk you take when you don't follow the rules.

I don't consider using the OS sims as they were given to us as "abuse". We were given 3750 prims...shame the hell on us for actually using them.

I wish I could have behaved like this when they increased the fines for speeding tickets near construction zones. (^_^)y

AFAIC, this is still unworkable in the long term. It's very disheartening. People complained about being fed a sh*t sandwich on a hard roll, and they come back with a sh*t burger on a soft roll. Either way, it's still sh*t.

It's exactly what I predicted they would do. Give us something slightly more palatable...but exactly what they wanted in the first place.

Well yeah, thats the main argument thats been going on for days and you are entitled to your opinion.

So using the prim limit they *explicitly set* for their product while keeping a time dilation of 1.00 and a script time of 0.7ms, and having 3-5 avatars gathered when things are wild is abuse?

Most of the people in the official thread are not happy bunnies. Jack is doing his usual - replying to the very few posts that he feels he has an answer for and ignoring the rest, which is almost all of them.

Something that's often gone through my mind through all of it is the idea put forward by quite a few people - that they can't afford to continue their business with the $50/month price hike. There's already another one posting that in the current thread. Is there something wrong with running their businesses in the same way most other people do - mainland or renting a parcel on a PI? I've no sympathy with that attitude - they just want the full sim space even though they don't need it.

Personally I wouldnt consider that abuse. But I dont work for LL and they do consider it abuse.

EDIT: I still think that the fact that LL are making a concession here is a big deal, even if it dont solve the probelm for everyone. Overall its a step in the right direction and the situation compared to a few hours ago has improved.

Yep I am quickly coming to realise that as i read the other responses too.

Think i will put off hailing the virtuals of LL to another time as I dont think it will go down too well this evening.
