I was suggesting that we share some positive energy for a change. Almost every single discussion on here the last few days is Negative. A tad bit depressing.

I was looking for some comments and ideas and suggestions along these lines:

1) Do not hesitate to offer someone a deal on land that you have had your eye on.

2) You've always wanted to create a build....do it now.

3) You've always wanted to open up a store.....do it now.

4) You've always wanted to build a roleplay sim that does not involve violence or rape.....do it now.

5) Be a Philanthropist. Type Benski into your search above, and check out what he is doing.

6) You want to give an amazing gift to someone who has touched your SL life. Find a lot, and build a beautiful park for them, dedicate it to them....and pay the tier for a few months in advance for them.

7) You've wanted to build something unique...you don't have the skills....but you can offer the land.....work out a deal with a builder.

8) You want to expand your store or mall.....do it now.

9) You've wanted to add an entirely different line of product to your store....do it now.

10) You hate your neighbors.....move....there are plenty of places to get a deal on land now....try something new.

11) You love your inland home....but build a vacation home on the beach or a cabin in the snow covered mountains.

12) Get a great deal on a large piece of land....divide it up among your friends....and build something amazing together.

13) Find a lot in the middle of a residential section and put in a community clubhouse and swimming pool.

14) Build an apartment building for newcomers. Let them stay for their first 30 days...while they figure out what they want to do....and let them meet some new friends in the apartment building.

15) After building the apartment building.....add a park area for them. Add a classroom and invite your friends in to give them a class on something every week.

16) Build a restaurant. There are not enough restaurants here. Build a Grocery Store. I only see one in search. There aren't but a handful of Bed and Breakfast Inns - build one and do it better.

17) Build a Bowling Alley, Diner, and Drive-In theatre. There are only a few. Do it better.

18) Get yourself a piece of land and do ANYTHING Better.

19) You're not a builder. Meet a builder with positive energy and do the above - you get the land - let he/she build it. They can use the build in their portfolio - you make a success of it, and it's great advertising for them.

20) You're not a builder. Get someone to teach you. You use half the lot....in exchange for the lessons....let them use the other half of the lot.

21) Build a community garden. Divide it up in plots....let each person pick out their plot...don't forget to add the raised bed plots for those in wheelchairs. I don't see any community gardens in search.

22) Build a community park, and invite musicians who are just starting out to come play.

23) Get a lot and set up a house....furnish it....let someone you meet at random live in it each week.

24) You've got several friends who hate their neighbors, too....organize a group of people and build your own neighborhood.

25) Build something similar to a YMCA/YWCA......gym, track, swimming pool.....give lessons....have community meetings.

26) Develop a park or community center that is used specifically for fund raising events. Offer it to those who do fund raising events.

2&;) Make a farmer's market or flea market. Plenty of people have tons of inventory items to sell. Too many yard sales already? Do it Better.

29) At the market....offer an area for presentations and classes.

30) You don't have the time or skills to promote all of the above? Find someone who wants to have a shot at marketing and promoting....let them run with it.....give them a corner of your land to use, in exchange.

Shall I go on?

So you were seaking advice but only if it says exactly want to hear.

You can come down as hard as you like on me for this. :)

I was pretty clear in the original post. No whining and moaning, and asked for some positive feedback. If I wasn't clear enough, hopefully the post I left above will give an example.

You're welcome to ruin it. It won't phase me. And it won't stop me from doing it again. I do find it odd to take a beating over trying to discuss something positive for a change.

No. I wasn't seeking advice. I thought we could share some ideas and possibly collaborate on some projects.

But yes....I did indicate that the whining and moaning and gloom and doom should be left out....so you are correct....I did wish to hear something besides that.

You are old enough to know that nobody, not the OP of a thread or anyone else in it (other than the mods) can dictate how a thread goes.
.

Or as Bradley said - you only want folks to give advice if you like the TONE of what they say?

I don't feel like arguing. I wanted to offer up a topic for positive discussion.

31) Go to the street corner and score some goods so I can see what it feels like

32) Tell LL to stop adding land that will never be used as intended and sit there until the next Real Estate Guy thinks he can roll it for a 10L profit..

33) Tell new People that Pieces of Estate Land are really not for sale to them because Estate Land can only belong to the person paying Tier to LL direct

34) Tell the OP to stop sending whining IM's to me

35) Tell the OP again to read the responses, some might actually contain positive information that are directly relevant to the original questions.

Oh.. and what is a Benski? Is that the East Block Version of a Mercedes Benz?

Mr. Alter....I asked you politely to remove your post. You responded by insulting me. I responded politely to your insult. You are welcome to post the exact wording. I chose not to discuss the private message, as I thought that was unfair, and I think that perhaps it might be against the rules.

I asked you to" Take a red pill and then go read my post again, as it directly addressed your question" If you think that is insulting you should be glad that you cannot read minds. You would be shocked .. TRUly shocked

Is it my imagination or do I see quite a bit more yellow on the map today?

I watch a few areas on the map......pulled them up today.....and they are almost all yellow now?

Did everyone go home last night - give up on the promise of a land swap - and tag their land for sale?

I remember the good old days when I would jump up and down the minute I saw yellow and snag it - never a bad move - always profitable - and always Fun to have a raw piece of land to play with. How can we make that fun again?

Without whining and moaning? I dare you to come up with an answer that does not involve whining and moaning and gloom and doom.

Impossible?

Back to op and skipping the drama...

There's always been more yellow than any normal person could ever hope to buy. Literally millions of sqm of land is for sale at any time. I don't know if there's more or less land for sale right now because LL removed the stats but it seems pretty samey to me. Remember yellow land is land someone is paying tier on so it's no measure of the success or failure of the economy anyway.

More likely what you're experience is just the natural migration of people moving around the grid.

Now if you were to report that land prices were in the crapper /then/ we could discuss reasons and we might deduce that there's too much land, or less buyers or more sellers or something but the amount of "yellow" is pretty meaningless.

Thanks, Elanthius. I was reminiscing about the excitement you might feel when a neighboring piece of land went up for sale a few years back.

You can't really jump up and down now about purchasing it....building on it....then selling and making a profit....that doesn't happen as easily as it used to.

But was suggesting that we come up with some other ways that purchasing a piece of that yellow....or working out a cooperative deal with the yellow holder....might make it fun.

Not necessarily always with a profit goal in mind - (although my mind works that way most of the day) - I wouldn't even mind tossing some time and energy into something that is not profit related for a change. Would be a nice break from the pressure.
