I will tell Torley you said so! You can see Torley's Tutorials here: http://secondlife.com/showcase/tutorials *Torley is still making new tutorials regularly* You will see Torley blogging again soon, not on the main official blog, but in the new set of blogs we're adding later this month. ![]() Great I use to go to his Torley Live blog site but it has changed. I was trying find tutorial with images today on how to explain to new residents how to edit joined prims like shoes or clothing worn today was checking out his site but I didn't find it. I have also been looking for guides to how to make 2d drawings look 3d with flat prims and how to correct texture blurriness when working with smaller resolution textures but it really hard to find that type of information. What little I have found I just don't understand. Torley has talent to make things "understandable" and truly appreciate that about his videos. Thanks Katt. _____________________

I don't know about success stories, but I could offer names of a considerable number of forum contributors who could do with a lot more tuition in written English . . . Pep (More user created content required?) Tutoring, my dear Pep. You mean "tutoring". Tuition is paid to a school, in the form of money. Not written English, unless you mean "Pay to the Order of..." _____________________

tu⋅i⋅tion /tuˈɪʃən, tyu-/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [too-ish-uhn, tyoo-] Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. the charge or fee for instruction, as at a private school or a college or university: The college will raise its tuition again next year. 2. teaching or instruction, as of pupils: a school offering private tuition in languages. 3. Archaic. guardianship or custody. =================== While technically correct, the traditional meaning does tend to trip up the reader when tutoring or tutelage would have been a bit more clear. At least it would to me. But then again, maybe not since i only see what is quoted anyway. |

Thanks for asking about Torley! Torley's tutorials will be back in the new blogs launching later this month. Right now they're still being made, and you can find them in the Showcase tutorials section. http://secondlife.com/showcase/tutorials/ There's also a link to them from the main blog blog.secondlife.com (look at the navigation in the top left.) RFL is a great suggestion, of course -- always inspirational and fun too. -- Katt Thankee for the response, Katt! Now I'll quit harping on it. Having them posted periodically on the main blog just makes 'em easier to for newer users to find out about them. And those of us who are lazy.. like me ![]() _____________________

I'd like to see some stories done on lesser known residents. The ones who slug their guts out day in and day out with little or no recognition purely because they love secondlife and what it has to offer.
I have seen a lot of great creations come out over the last 3 years and would like to see some focus drawn to those aswell. _____________________

Et tu, Yosef? Oh, and I went to Cambridge, the oldest surviving university (Oxford? Pah!) in the UK, where we definitely paid "tuition fees" for our "tuition", and in this case the Oxford English Dictionary is in agreement. http://www.askoxford.com/concise_oed/tuition?view=uk Pep (Don't worry Lindal; we all make mistakes.) _____________________

Robbie Dingo.
I don't know Robbie, but more than anyone else's work, his stuff--both machinima and in-world creations--has brought me back into SL when I've despaired of its potential. Another word: It's not all about RL relevance. It's fine to encourage it with the Linden Prize, and I have no idea what he's working on now, but Robbie's past work wouldn't qualify for the Linden Prize because of that criterion. And yet there's no better appreciation of SL's potential than "Mask" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naSOCHeF3P0), "Watch the World(s)" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxVDVggLqsA), "Meteors" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWmLTN6E-e8), and the WhisperBox installation art in-world. It's not all about RL relevance. It's just not. _____________________
