I added a US$ auction to my watchlist about 1.5 hours before the auction was due to close. There was no reminder email.
The first auction that I put on watchlist was a L$ auction and was due to close about 10 hours after I added it. The system generated just a single reminder email just over 8 hours before the close time.
2 hours after both auctions closed, the L$ auction was still on public view, but the US$ was no longer visible on the list. I don't know how long the US$ one remained visible after it closed. The buyer in both cases is "Anonymous"
However: Both auctions are still visible in my Watchlist, showing the winning bid and the bidding history. The buyer in both cases is "Anonymous" One small glitch is that the list shows the L$ symbol with both bid amounts.
So: Add interesting auctions to your watchlist. You'll have some as yet undetermined window of time in which to check the winning bids.

I'm not doing any extra work to make up for LL no longer offering a closed auctions page anymore. Would only be worth the effort if I had plans to bid on a sim. Guess my days of giving a poop about the auction players is over.

From: someone Once again, LL fixes things for the worse. The closes auction info was and essential part of the old page. I guess they don't want to let people see a history of closed auctions since that would help them to not overpay. As history of LLABS messing up they did it YET again.......... Don`t they learn that learning from past mistakes might result in a healther and more fruitfull game? MAYBE just MAYBE LLABS could change the rules and make the game more useful and friendly for say 30% of the population instead of the only for the rich and greedy people?! This just proves we are becoming less and less important to LLABS as the larger companies invade SL. But sooner of later those larger companies will realize that they too will me pushed aside if or when a better money making found.

Here is a way, using the auction systems own search function. Go to Advanced Search: US$ auctions - L$ auctions - * Put in End Date Range starting at 04/30/2003 (or whatever) * Click the "include closed listings" checkbox * Pick Sort By "Ending Last" (or whatever) Bonus: You get to see all their test auctions. My favorite is the Ahern Welcome Area that went for unsold even for L$1 -

The "General Keyword Search" is also refered on various other pages as the "advanced search".

sounds to me like the Auctions are being rigged ..... With winning bids being WELL over the odds and from anonymous bidders.
To be honest I wouldnt trust auctions ..... how many times have you bought something on ebay for a bargain only to find it somehow self destructed inbetween you winning the auction and them putting it in the post...... or of course the judge judy special on the ugly bint selling mobile phone PICTURES!!!!! for $100 because she made it read that they would get the phone and mention nowhere that it was only a picture.
Nevertheless Linden Labs sort your self out guys ..... $100 restock fee ..... restock WHAT..... aint like you need to reintergrate it is it. Sometimes I think the LL is the most unprofessional company. you can pick up a 512 in world for under 5k ........ so 60k just aint normal and if you have any sense it wouldnt proberly end well.

And why, honestly, would LL spend so much time completely revamping the auction system just to make a vital tool of that system so freekin obscure?
I really don't spend a lot of time looking at the auction page, I haven't bought land at auction for probably two years or so now, so I am not an active auctioneer, but I have peeked at the page now and then to get an idea of what land is selling for from the source.
I would imagine having easy access to this sort of information (the results of closed auctions) would be vital to anyone engaging in such a speculative market. Why didn't the person developing the new system imagine that?

From: Pie Psaltery I would imagine having easy access to this sort of information (the results of closed auctions) would be vital to anyone engaging in such a speculative market. Why didn't the person developing the new system imagine that? A frequent problem with software development is that the people who design and code the system typically never ever use it themselves. Problems or requirements that seem blatantly self-evident to those who use the system, are often things that people who have never used it can't even imagine. Sadly, I run into this a lot in RL where I design and code software... I ask as many questions as I can of clients, to try and figure out exactly what they want, but now and then we miss something that to them is so obvious it didn't need to be mentioned. -Atashi

I'm assuming the auction page will be fixed soon? I did use the advanced search, lot of work just to find what's been sold and for how much.
Also more than 50% of people in SL first language is not english so maybe time the auction page should be able to be read in other languages also.
Would be cool if google starts selling lots of the "finite" land on the planet. I wonder how they would size the lots.............. in sq. kilometre lots?, or hectares?, larger or smaller depending on the place??
