I do not see why people would pay more than a few hundred to several hundred linden for some shoes. There is not much they can do to differentiate one from another as far as style goes in the long run.

I think the most expensive shoes i own are $595 and those are Pornstars & Dunks and chock full of scripted customizable goodness. Scripted features are worth a little extra when your shoe can take on so many different looks.

I agree with you on that one. I do not understand why anyone would pay the money they do, but it is their money to spend.

I personally dislike the ones from the extremely expensive store.
I was there once, and I cammed in real close on the display shoes, and wow, they were so misaligned it was sad, and to think they charge what they do.
And no demo??? for that price I would want to see how they look, sheesh.

All my shoes (scripted and no scripted) in the store are 100L each.
I strive to make them as perfect as possible, but this is SL so nothing is perfect.

I like that I redid my pricing structure, so much easier knowing everything is 100L each LOL

Briana the issue is that you nearly called out a lynch mob on this content creator for no real apparent reason. You called into question the professional ethics of a person you did not know in a public forum. You could have easily contacted the creator and asked the same question. Hopefully he got enough positive publicity from this thread to counter-act the harassment.

Hi eku

The only problem with the shoes attaching at the lower leg is it takes away that attachment point for other uses

(I bought a pair of the 25L ones just to see how they looked, you did a nice job, but the seller did a crappy job putting them together)

anywho... when you attach to the lower leg, then the wearer can not use lower leg attachments such as pants cuffs.
Since the seller I got them from was selling them mod, (and with 2 attachment per foot, lower leg for the shoe, and foot for invisible prim (huh) I modded by combining the shoe and reattached (but I think it is still attached to the leg, not sure and can't log in to check)

When I am in world again I am gonna tweak with them and see how they look attached to the foot.

Again, you did nice work (sadly I can not afford your price for the full perm pack, been drooling over them.)

I did pick up toes from another seller, which I really really like, been trying to add them to some shoes to see how they look, but I need the color change script, similar to what J's uses, so the toe color can be customized, and the toe ring can be made to hide, etc

I am not a scripter so it will be awhile. heh

busy making a foot ver ^^ with no ankle part

shout in my direction for a sample pair .. dont give market dumpers their 25L lol

I don't know about the shoes, but almost everything on this search uses a copybotted object

No one called out the ethics of anyone. I linked a search result page on XSL and asked could those be legit. I could have contacted what creator??

you want us to come to you for a sample pair, and not buy from the folks who bought the full perm kit from you?
thereby disabling them from making their money back?

That doesn't sound right to me.

After all, once you sell the kit, the owner can sell their "creations" even if they are not changed from what you have as the kit, at whatever price they want, right?

I did not mind giving 25L to someone so I could see the quality of the sculpts, and even though they are very good, I still can not justify spending that much for a full perm kit.

I wish I knew how to sculpt, but I don't.
Plus being I am not as active in putting out new stuff, I know the kit would sit there, unused. (which is what happened with the toes, but they were very well in my price range, and someday I will do something with them)

well I did get them into a shoe, but, still need the dang script GRRRR

I think they think you should have been easily able to find the full perm kit that these shoes were made from.

I know it was easy for me to find them (heck I was aware of the full perm kit way before I saw the low priced ones made from the kit)

Have to agree with Rha on this one. Once you sell a full perms kit -- unless you have specific license requirements -- ppl are pretty much free to charge whatever they like for a finished product. That said, I bought a pair of the $25L and two pairs of $99L made from it. All are very nice. I also think the point about the ankle & foot unit as attachment points is well taken.

The OTHER thing I've noticed with these is that SL lighting often makes the toes unusually "bright" compared to the leg and ankle/foot. The only time they are fully the same is under Midday. If you put the legs into shadow, the toes look like they are lit up. I don't know if there's a fix for it by making the toe skin tone colorable separately or what.

tis ok, we all say things we wish we hadn't :)

snickers, the lighting thing is something that we really can not do much about (just make sure the prims are not full bright, nor any lighting effect)

other than that, do the best ya can, in whichever lighting you usually use.
There is no way you are going to make them match for everyone to see them correctly, so do it for yourself (after all, don't we all do this stuff for ourselves, considering we can not determine or control the settings on another person's PC?)

I have seen people wearing moody's foot shoes, and the color is way darker on the foot, but to them, it matches, because either they set it in a different setting that I normally use, or their system is calibrated differently.

Eku
do you sell just the foot? or just the toes? or only the foot with shoes and toes?

I would be more interested in a foot, no shoes, no toes, but could not justify more than, 500L for them (of course full perm so I could use them to make my own foot shoes)

The foot shape you have is a shape I would use, but I have my own toes already that I like very very much.

Oh lord knows I appreciate all the weirdness of SL lighting having been making prim dresses for the last year. That's why I (lamely) suggested possibly making the toes colorable separately. I can see it now -- a script that senses the time of day in the SIM and sets your toes brighter or darker. Cue insane giggles!

that "could" work, if the time was consistent sim to sim

heh

scripts can be made to do something according to the time of day
(I think)

I am still searching for that RGB script (not the color script that has all the color options, but the one that lets you increase or decrease the RGB values as well as go lighter and darker)
I thought I had it in my inventory, but searching color brought up nothing (hmm wonder if I should search colour)

QUOTE]

I just spent some time with a blooming SL flower, called 'The Nightbloom'. It's in a skybox on the 'Ninja of the Obvious' sim; it was also in the Burning Man displays. It's scripts are set to the SL time of day. If someone goes there and tries to change it's environment, the scripts don't recognize that. The flower blooms slowly at night, and vanishes as the sun rises, all set by the scripts responding to the SL environment. So I guess that yeah it can be done......

I think time-of-day affects the *direction* of the lighting, so for example at sunrise just one side of the toes should be too bright and the other too dark, compared to flesh.

I happen to have scripted an umbrella that follows the sun, so it's always "shading" the people under it. I suspect, however, that some fussy customers would object to their toes rotating to face the sun. :p

I wonder how offended the person eku accused feels now.

I wonder if they will permanently hate eku and start hate threads about her.

Ah well.

Someone told me there is a computer program (Poser?) that has a model of feet that most of these prim shoe makers are using. So that may be why they all look the same.

Well it's not really "Holy Wisdom" as your blogginess has deemed so. It's more of "Fact" that people should actually do legwork and get the facts before making accusations against another.

Better yet, why even blog on it? Why not sculpt a shoe instead?
Have a great day Briannnnnnnna!

Sincerely,

Your Holyness

I dont think she accused anyone, she only asked... a legit question.

and IMHO prim feet are creepy like prim boobies

Yes.. I did simply ask. BUT, i could have done better research and that was my fault because had i known who made the feet i would not have said anything.

So i necro'd this with that post to show that the person i questioned -eku-, who then made a slam bash briana forum thread at SLU about me later on - did the exact same thing to a person and went so far as to go harass them in person - with accusations, not questions.

I just find it ironic that they totally shit on me for asking a question and then they go and do the same damn thing but with accusation.

Hate and Hypocrisy for the win.
