This is a map I did last night of the two oldest continents: Sansara and Heterocera Atoll. I was wondering if anyone had any comments, or any suggested sites I should note that I have not.

Thanks....

Ooooh thats nice Carl. You mostly hear about famous places, go there but never check the map. It's fun to see where all these places are located. Nice work!

Wonderful!

Spellcheck on "Govener Mansion" though... and did Abbot(t)s have 1 't' or two?

...add:

- Magellan's Crash Site in Columbia?

- If possible to fit, Harry Linden's crash site in Mohr?

Awesome map sir! Best I'd ever seen, even as is.

Abbott's has 2 T's. :) Added to this: I've also heard the Temple of Iris referred to as the Moth Temple, though I don't know which is the 'official' name; it's actually mount G'al, rather than Gnal; and YadNi is spelled with a capital N. :)

Looks great-- I'd be curious to know where the continent names came from. I didn't know they had names.

An amazing map, thankyou very much.

OK, my real reason for writing: would it be appropriate to add Mocha cathedral? Its in the second life history wiki, and, if I remember correctly, the Mocha sim has a pretty significant history, but I'm foggy on the details.

"When can we get Google Earth to look at SL"

The question actually should be "When can we use our SL avatars to fly over Google Earth :)
BTW Google logo is already on SL maps...

You have Islandia listed twice on the old continent. The correct (as far as anyting I've seen) location is lower left, in the sideways "L" The upper right is someting different.

Some of what you have listed as campus is now, I believe, the Linden Village annex. To the north of it is the estate services area, too, not shown on your map.

Hidden Lakes (http://www.slhistory.org/index.php/Hidden_Lakes) is not shown. There are also the Coast Town (http://www.slhistory.org/index.php/Coast_Town_Sims) sims and the lost Lakes (http://www.slhistory.org/index.php/Lost_Lakes) sims. And the Nuba region (around and above the words "Help Island" on your map)

Some of the area areound Mount Gnal is known, too, as the Volcano Island (http://www.slhistory.org/index.php/Volcano_Island_Sims) sims.

See also this, which I don't know where the name came from:
http://www.slhistory.org/index.php?title=Dualatoll

Please, on completion, find a place for this on the SLHistory wiki. Oh, an dun forget to pass the map to http://www.mapsforus.org/ when yer done, for U.S. Americans, and such. ;-)

This will be a tad... selfish, but when Caledon's home isle is completed, I'm commissioning a fairly in-depth atlas of the entire grid at that time, if someone's willing to bite for maybe $L 100k or so.

Possibly about a year from now.

When done, it will be donated to the public domain.

Carl, this map rocks.

It's great Carl, I can see my home. :)

Sometimes you have writtten InfoHub with an upper case H and others as Infohub - nicer to be consistent. YadNi has a capital N - though I expect he is used to people writing Yadni. Are you standardising on American spelling? Color vs colour? Is American spelling different for Governor? - I don't know. You also seem to have two Islandias - is this correct?

It's the best map I have seen - really good.

I never knew where a lot of those places were in relation to each other. Nor indeed was I all that sure that some of them were even Mainland at all. Well done!

Oh wow. Thank you.

It's hard to get a real grasp on the relative locations for most newer users (Even me after over a year on grid) There's simply so much land that SL tends to get reduced to teleport locations and folks only really learn about their immediate neighborhood.

I admit to surprise that so many of those known areas are mostly on one continent. It makes my home on Nautilus feel a little less connected =/
