1.15 is a bit out of date . Edit / Preferences / Graphics tab - check Custom, make sure Basic Shaders is checked. No basic shaders, no glow. If you can't check basic shaders then either your video card can't handle it (ie Intel onboard video card) or there's a driver issue (even my FX5200 could handle basic shaders fine).

From: Amaranthim Talon ...Full bright worked fine... Full Bright is the absence of any and all brightness and contrast effects that light properties can apply to a texture. If anything, consider Full Bright to be a means of reducing the texture rendering to the lowest common denominator. Or, simply displaying an un-altered texture on a surface. (^_^)y

Thanks Meade and Kitty- nope- this machine did not have the feature available though I could use bumps. I will try at home later.

From: Meade Paravane Dunno if it's my graphics settings or monitor settings or what but most glowy things show up as totally washed out on my screen, even after they've fully rezzed. Nothin' but pure white. Check the following debug setting that Argent mentions. That might be the problem: From: Argent Stonecutter From: Marianne McCann In release versions, glow was a debug setting, too. RenderGlow.
Careful, if you turn that on now... then everying with fullbright or glow will be glowing at 100% all the time.

From: Skell Dagger Check the following debug setting that Argent mentions. That might be the problem: Could be - I'll check that setting out later.. But notice now much of the pic on the previous page is washed out. The prims are sorta purply on the edges but the majority of their surface show as all-white.. From: Imnotgoing Sideways /me glows! =^-^= Dunno if she turned it up on that picture or not but this is the way I see things on most objects with glow..

Do not follow these instructions. As I mentioned above, the "RenderGlow" setting was used in earlier versions to turn "Full Bright" into "Glow". It still does that, and also turns all glowing objects up to 100%.

Dunno if she turned it up on that picture or not but this is the way I see things on most objects with glow.. If it's a washed out white then it's just set too high (on the prim). Also keep in mind that the time of day will make a huge difference. (Left to right: no glow, 0.05 glow, 0.10 glow) (I wouldn't be the least bit upset if the current 0.0-1.0 glow scale was adjusted to be what is currently 0.00-0.10)

Dunno if she turned it up on that picture or not but this is the way I see things on most objects with glow.. It's full glow on full bright transparent pink prims... So, yeah, that's the maximum glow possible. It's scripted so that I can set the value and toggle it on or off on the fly... All with really killer buzz and hum sounds! (^_^) Honestly... "Good" non-neon-sign glow is anywhere between 0.01 to 0.10. A flood light source must be full glow on at least one face. (^_^)y /me fizzles out....

I find it rare that I have any need for glow over 0.10. Most of the time, I am using it in the 0.03-0.05 range, and the latter is pushing it. I also tend to have it turn off in daylight if possible.
Visit my Bay City store at sunset ('natural' sunset) some time and check out the neon sign and side of building lights, for example

From: Kitty Barnett (I wouldn't be the least bit upset if the current 0.0-1.0 glow scale was adjusted to be what is currently 0.00-0.10) QFT. Does anyone know what the Glowtivity scale actually means? I get it that it's ordinal: 0.5 is (even) more Glowistic than 0.4... but is it a ratio scale? I mean, is 0.5 half as Glowiferous as 1.0? And the totality of what, exactly, is the Glowasmic 1.0?

Glow of 1.0 amplifies light in the area of the glowing prim by a factor of 10. It's a 2d effect laid on after rendering, so it doesn't matter if the light is coming from the prim itself or is seen through it... or of the glow is seen through the prim which is why glow shows through alpha textures even if they're 0% transparent.
Make a 10m hollow phantom sphere and set it to solid black, 0.1 transparent, 1.0 glow. Looking through it you'll see the world on the other side at normal brightness, but only visible as the glow, as if it was blurred.

Glow looks nice when used in conservative measures. For lights, I found that to not exceed more than 0.38 or 0.40 is the most, depending on the light settings. When used right, it gives beautiful affects, when wrong, a disaster!
It also has its place in pictures, where just a little gives a nice warm fuzzy affect, maybe a setting of 0.02 or so.
But, when abused, it is absolutely U-G-L-Y!
Be careful with what you glow!

Visit my Bay City store at sunset ('natural' sunset) some time and check out the neon sign and side of building lights, for example That's one of the problems I find: A subtle glow at night can become a blinding glare by day, or sometimes when it intersects another glow, alpha texture or light. It makes setting it up a nightmare, and I'm sure sometimes one person might think it overdone where another sees it as too subtle. Not even counting differences in monitor & graphics settings. Shameless plug: I made some glowy sci-fi accessories almost as soon as glow appeared on the mainstream viewer, and it seemed obvious to me to add a glow control to the colour control HUD. So my glowies have off-low-medium-bright settings. Full glow neon cyberKelli (Replicator skin from Grendel's)

Also bear in mind for some reason it seems the 8800 and some other cards show glow way brighter than it actually is, so perhaps get a friend to send you a snapshot of what they see
