Even though I have been in SL over 2 years I still go to classes that look interesting. Even the beginning class levels. And it never ceases to amaze me that I continue to learn things I never knew! Others may know these tricks but I thought it would be fun to see if others experience this. Three new things I have learned this past month;
1. There is a way to match colors inworld! I've always had to take something out of SL in order to color match. but if you go to
Advanced UI Show color under cursor
you can use your color picker on anything to show the color in SL! The colors will show up in RBG numbers at the lower right side of you screen above your music slider.
2. When making a sculpt Bear last week, I got one arm just how I wanted it. I copied it to the other side and instead of having to figure out the rotations to get it facing the right way...I checked mirror in the sculpt options and it automatically made the sculpt arm flip with exactly the right rotations!
3. A friend learned this by accident..what a time saver! If you want to select just a few of you friends to show yourself offline to..you can use CTRL and select as many on your friends list as you want...and only uncheck the offline button once. Or you can use CTRL Shift and select them all. To turn them back on you just do the same.
Anyone else have some tips that they care to share?

I like the edit/position press & hold shift and lift with the blue arrow to make a fresh copy of something.

Yes - planar mapping if you have a sculpty and want the texture to not wrap around the entire thing. Sorry can't recall more specifics I found it by accident. I was helping someone texture their sculpty fish.

I knew you could start a conference IM by selecting several friends and starting the IM (which I was surprised to find some of my more experienced friends knew). I only learned the trick of adding extra people to an IM by dropping their calling card on the window last week, right here on RA. My reaction was "calling cards... so that's what they're good for!".

If you do more than 10 or so at a time it can fail in nasty ways that require you to relog to get a good view of your friends list again. That's what happened to me when they introduced the new friends list a few years back and I had to go through all my friends and turn mapping on again.

So far I've not had a problem...but then I only tried it a few times just to see if it worked. I selected my whole list at once (over 100 names) and unchecked show online. Then after a few minutes I selected all of them again...and checked show online. I am using Snowglobe though..wonder if that makes a difference? I'll be sure and watch out though next time if I ever have a reason to select more than 10.

It's also remotely possible that, in the years since I ran into this problem and gave up the "friends list" as a bad job as a result, they've actually fixed it.

A very useful tip I was given -- by, as I recall, Viktoria Dovgal -- is that Advanced-Character-Animation Info shows you all the animations you have running, including their priorities. This can be very handy at times.

I have been told before how to find HUDs that disappear of screen- but I can't for the life of me remember and i have HUDs i cannot see About Edit Shift Drag to Copy- don't forget you can ctrl z to snap the results back into the original position- important if it needs minor tweaking but no postion change.

I learned how to use reference mode in the build window (it only took me what.. 5 years?)
it treats the ruler mode like local, only with the size multiplier, rotation axis, and position multiplier mapped to a prim you selected (with shft+g).... dear god how did I ever live without this before!!! great for matching pieces that need to be mirrored, or blessedly simple alignments even when your parts aren't aligned to world axis

I got that far and i can see the little critter but i cant catch it to drag into another space- soon as i try to click on it to edit it, it dissapears back into its hiding palce.

Something so obvious you guys proly know it but---- if you don't know the opposite rotation of something - like 90/270 - just enter -90 for example and it will translate properly on the mirrored prim.

Hmmm. OK, next step: once you know it's all the way off to the left or the right or whatever, detach it and reattach it on the opposite attachment point so you can drag it to the "zero" point, so it'll be in the right place when you attach it to the original point again. If it's too far off, you might have to attach it to an in-world attachment point to reset the attachment offset.

I had this happen with a HUD - I would try and try to 'catch' it by editing another and scrolling out so I could see it, but every time I clicked that arrow... snap! back into place. This is going to sound daft, but try again, clicking on the 'leading' arrow instead of the trailing one. Once I did that, I was able to slide the little trickster onto my screen where I could reach it. I really have no idea why, but it worked.

Didn't know most of this stuff. Thanks guys.
And I will pass along that conference call tip to people who insist I need to join their spam promotions group "because you are on my list and I like to talk to my friends." Lol

Could that HUD tip help the person who's being spammed by a script on her land? Y'know, that other thread?

Probably everyone knows this, but you can temporarily make group chat disappear when it gets distracting by dragging the screen almost off the edge of your screen. That way, without going in busy mode, you can still shop and receive your product and you can also go back and catch up on what you missed in chat.
If you have the group chat going to local chat also you have to detach and drag that off screen instead.
