before updating SL was laggy and crashy but other wise fine. well except for recently it was just uncooperative in every respect, which is why i was so quick to click on what i thought was a patch for the older version. foolish me. i down loaded the other client and will reinstall it. i'll see what happens.

The last few weeks things have been stranger then usual not sure why. I don't think it has to do with any of our computers its is SL.
Things have just really seem to be weirder then usual at times since the mandatory update.
Yet colors in some places like on islands look more vivid to me.

Kitty, I disagree. I have in Intel 910/915 GM. Regular SL viewer will crash within minutes of logging in. WL & RCs are working fine for me. It says my computer does not meet specs when installed. I hit OK and continue. If you can get by the video card issue, you should be OK.

Now if they change the RCs so they do crash on me, I am hosed!

Well since the windlight viewer came out I havent been using anything else. Where I sued to get a BOSD a few times per evening, I run as stable as possible. No high framerates, no windlight features, but stable :-)

Running the Intel 945 chipset on a laptop with 2 gig of memory by the way. And Intel IS supported since a while but only the chipset I am using (YAY).

The way the grid is running lately doesn't do much good to my enjoyment though, as it's almost impossible create stuff, don't even speak of selling it. But I really think LL does make an effort in making the client side more and more stable, and supporting more cards. My card initially was not supported, and now is, which proves they are working on it. Which doesn't make things any better for people running on systems that don't work though :(

This page might help with determining wether your card should run at all:

There is no RC at the moment...the main viewer is now the Windlight enabled one.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I missed that. So the 1.19.1.4 RC is the same as the standard 1.19.1.4? Are we sure? If so, why do they still offer the RC under test software?

I guess I'll D/L the standard 1.19.1.4 viewer and see. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

They're might be a couple of additional bug fixes, but there's a Linden comment on the release announcement saying the two are basically the same.

Cleo, Ann posted the link for the SL viewer 1.18.5.3, if you want to try the Nicholaz viewer BE-v you can get it here:

http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/

You "install" the Nicholaz viewer by simply dropping the Nicholaz files into the appropriate directory after installing the SL viewer, see the Readme in the Nicholaz files for instructions. Then you just create a shortcut to nicholaz.exe and you can use it to login.

I built my machine a few years ago at the time it was hot rod top of the line at the time. .

Cleo .. Time stands still for no one .. let alone technology ..

I'm still running a P3 .. 64mb Gforce MX .

If I tried to run at full out I would crash and burn .

As each new update has come online I had to lower my expectations and settings .. eventually I will be "forced" to upgrade in order to keep up with secondlife .. ( also any other game )..

Don't give up dude .. stay with it .. if you get 1k FPS with wow play it now and again ..

SL is the "brave new world" always changing and expanding .. live on the cutting edge.
Regards.

If you look at the blog they have links to the older version of the client.. so you can go back and still play.
