Virtual Worlds will go the way of the Internet with ISPs and an "open source base grid". Companies like LL and Blue Mars will fall to the wayside (although I have hopes that Blue Mars MAY join Transitiongeddon while LL is just far too shortsighted). Ultimately, a repeat of WWW except virtually. People will log on to the "main grid" and depending on various factors, have access to certain subgrids, build their own grids if they wish etc.

Basementcumaggedon- Someone mass markets RL sextools or direct mind interfaces set up for SL and a couple of days after the first weekend most of the userbase are found slumped dead at their keyboards.
Competitoraggeddon- Someone creates a copy of SL with 1024x1024 sims, quality avatar mesh, and other 2009 features, with real customer service and having learnt from all of SL's mistakes.
