Well i scrolled back in the chat to see if there was an answer to this mystery and i found the following in the history: "Hi Lord Sullivan, Thank you for participating in our survey last month. Your Thank You Gift has been delivered to your inventory - it's a limited edition Benshee 2.0! Read the notecard inside the item to find out more! Cheers, Linden Lab Survey Team" Case closed Mr Holmes  is this one of those surveys that pops up at log in? |

Apparently legitimate. I just got one today. The notecard says that it's a reward for filling in one (or more) of Linden Labs surveys. I'm not sure whether that was one of the surveys-on-login they were doing a while back, or maybe it was one of the V-Team surveys I've answered. Anyway - I rezzed the critter to try it out, and it's a little glowy ball that spins round you and follows you about. Annoyingly, it doesn't actually disappear when you take off the rezzer. It doesn't follow you when you tp, and if left alone for too long (a couple of minutes) it will disappear, or you can use a chat commend to banish it. It didn't seem to do anything particularly interesting though.
Apparently the colour is keyed to your avatar UUID. Mine is pink. I guess that says a lot, huh.  _____________________

Good gawd! I filling in that survey weeks ago lol. I got my Benshee today. Completely forgot about the survey tbh and they did say you will receive a gift when I finished it but didn't think about it after that.

I got one during the 5000 stress test. Tonight, for the first time in years, I dug it out of inventory. I'm surprised it still works.

Yes even though it says its verison 2.0 it has instructions are for 1.0 and if you click on the bracelet the NC inside it says...

Ooh, you got a Benshee rezzor?! I believe we earned that a while back when we were trying to load test the beta grid up to.. 5,000 concurrent users. Or maybe it was 10k? I think a lot of people deleted theirs not too long after, as the creatures are absolutely useless. It's just an orb with a particle affect and it moves around rapidly or slowly depending on it's mood. The color is based on your key. I remember that, at one point there were some things given out for getting 3k online, those were the days... _____________________

Yeah, I dragged mine out after the Havok 4 changes, to make sure the magic still worked. And it did. I killed the Benshee (named after Ben Linden, if I recall) that was racketing around me and shoved the bracelet back into inventory. What is really sucky? That was supposed to be a one time thing for the Benshees. _____________________

I appreciate the offer, but gee why is it everything LL does turns out to be some let down "Very important announcement". The key part here is Distributor owned by Governor Linden You can't spoof the owner of an item, especially not a Linden, since those last names are reserved (although SL does occasionally glitch on telling you who's the owner of an item in a message, in which case you only need to hop over to the source and inspect that instead) The creator of an item doesn't matter. You only need 1 full perm prim to spoof an item into "being created by whoever". (this is why you have to be careful about your creations too. People only need 1 prim to mess up your good name, so always set at least 1 perm to everything you make, whether it's mod, copy or transfer, just one of these three is enough to stop people from making exploits seem to be created entirely by you upon close inspection) |
