I've just been handed some pets or something purportedly from Governor Linden, Benshees. I've never had something like this handed to me by Governor Linden, suspicious or legitimate?

I would sincerely doubt the Gov would be handing out inventory items. Maybbe it came from an item that somone named "Governor Linden," or it was an object left on land repossessed by LL that is giving it? _____________________

The colors are unique to you as they are based upon your avatar's key. -If you leave your Benshee alone and it cannot find you, it will delete itself. Commands for your bracelet: !brez - Rez a Benshee! Commands for your Benshees: !bdie - Delete your nearby Benshees. !blum - Switch between light and dark color themes (may take up to 10 seconds). |

wut about the Linden Bears? Point taken. I shoulda said they dun hand out stuff in an unsoilicited fashion. Judging from the URL and stuff, I would expect it to be more legit than a lot of other spaces. Of course, err on th' side of caution, dun click them yellow boxes an alla dat. The creator of the notecard was Sabin Linden I have IMd them and im waiting for a reply from them as i recieved it as well

Ooh, you got a Benshee rezzor?!
I believe we earned that a while back when we were trying to load test the beta grid up to.. 5,000 concurrent users. Or maybe it was 10k? I think a lot of people deleted theirs not too long after, as the creatures are absolutely useless. It's just an orb with a particle affect and it moves around rapidly or slowly depending on it's mood. The color is based on your key. _____________________

Benshees were a kind of particle pet made by Ben Linden as prizes for a stress test some time in 2005. If you logged in for the test and stayed logged in for an hour, you got a Benshee bracelet rezzer the next day.
