Yes. Anyone who would like that changed should vote for:

Post a question here if you want instructions on voting.

Wouldn't that screw up things like commission vendors that automatically debit a percentage of a sale from the money paid to you and send it to the person who created the item?

items can debit from your account when they want if given permission for a 1 time debit?

I may be missing something obvious, but what need is there for a 1 time debit permission? Isn't that what PAY or BUY is for?

I can't think of any use for the current debit permission other than a vendor or donation jar. When would a 1 time debit permission be necessary?

and for the OP... I think SLX and OnRez are the two most trustworthy SL services that are not run by LL. I sell and buy things using both sites on a daily basis and have never had a single problem.

I use SLex and On Rez on a regular basis. Never had any trouble except one delayed delivery and that was due to SL problems.

The nice thing about the services is that they use Pay Pal too which affords you further protection.

Shop away! :)

Many people don't use the pay buttons to specify a price, which means people can pay an object what they like. Without the debit permission if I had an item that was for sale for L$100 and someone paid L$90, it would take their money but not give them the item. With the debit permission it means my vendor refunds them.

Personally I script my vendors so the correct amount appears when someone pays, but not everyone does and if there's a SL problem, again the debit permission can help.

To be clear on this, and your comment in the OP about having access to your SL funds.. To purchase product on SLX, you create an account there, and then FUND the account with either US paid in, then converted to Lindens, or with Lindens directly via an SLX terminal in world. At no time does the SLX transaction system have direct access to your Linden Dollar balance on your Second Life account. You effectively preload your SLX account with funds, then buy product against that balance.

god's-honest humble opinion here - if you can't wait for the transfer to paypal (i know, a very common lindex complaint - wanna see your transfer in a matter of -seconds- instead of -days- or even -weeks??- or 'set sells' (you can do that at slEx if ya want)...

USE SL EXCHANGE :)) (i was not bought for this ad, but i approve this message. ;)

sorry, lindex;) too slow?? must go!! ;)

p.s. paying tier? just lindex enough for tier; move the rest thru slEx. :) IMHO.

Initially, I found SLX confusing. After all, in world, if you want Lindens, you just click on the little green L$ sign and it's all done (provided you've provided them with your PayPal account name initially). On SLX you have to fund your SLX account with USD, then buy Lindens on the website, and then "withdraw" them from an ATM inworld. They do have very good forums too (and no 503 errors!)

However, the three big advantages of SLX are:

1. You get a better exchange rate on SLX

2. Once you have SLX funds, you can go shopping on their website, and it's much easier to find stuff there than hunting around shopping malls for that precise item inworld (when you buy something from SLX, it gets delivered to your avatar in world).

3. You're spreading your risk just in case something does go belly up in SL - I have some of my Lindens in-world, and some held on SLX. If SL screws up, it hasn't eaten ALL my Lindens - and because both Lindex and SLX charge a fixed admin fee for currency payments, using PayPal to buy lots of small amounts of L$ isn't very efficient. You get far better value for money by making medium size PayPal payments (say 50USD) rather than lots of 5USD ones.

just noting that it's important to BE inworld during these transactions. sometimes, even making only one or two purchases will clog your IM quota and you won't receive your item.... but might still be charged for it.

I have personally probably bought more items on SLEX than from SL stores themselves. Faster, less lag, and if you ever have a problem, IM the vendor and if they don't respond, drop SLEX support a note.

Over 300 items purchased off of SLEX and only needed support assistance 3 times. Not bad at all.

I now have a SLEX terminal on my land where I have a shopping mall and club as a convenience for both shoppers and retailers

SLEX....the ONLY SL 3rd party site I do trust ... so should you. With the usual caution as always in all transactions.

Anyone have concerns about using Paypal?
I have heard they don't do very good customer support or protections if something goes wrong.
Also they require you to have premium account if are receiving more then 500 usd a year plus they charge 5 percent processing fees.
As far as SLX even after reading how to use things I must be dense I just don't get the Pips and how to do things as far as vendor.
They also seem to allow others to sell other people's content without their consent.
