From: Argent Stonecutter Someone needs to port the open-source client to the Playstation 3. I do not see that happening without Sony behind it. But look into XNA. I haven't put much time into it, but I believe it could be possible to make a limited function Xbox360 client. Infact google XNA anyway, it is a fun Dev package. Edit: thanks for the review Imny. You degraded my ps3 desires and saved me a few bucks.

From: Bree Giffen They want to bring in Companies to spam you with their branded products. I honestly don't see the two competing anyways. Interesting to juxtapose that comment with what the first "Stories from Second Life" is about: From: someone a marketing agency that specializes in leveraging the Second Life platform to empower brands to engage audiences in a compelling and engaging way. http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/12/10/stories-from-second-life-glenn-linden-talks-with-joni-west-of-this-second-marketing/

From: someone Some of Joni’s past and current clients include: Colgate, Nestle, 1-800-Flowers, Overstock.com and Sun Microsystems. I haven't heard of any of those companies in SL and I'm not such an anti-corporate person who runs away from such places. I think the problem with SL is that there really is no way to push advertising onto us. Which is a great thing because I can sit in a sandbox and be blissfully unaware that Colgate just joined the grid. But even if I was a huge fan of Colgate I still wouldn't have realized that they have an SL presence. I think that in HOME you will not be able to get away from the advertising.

From: Brenda Connolly And will it compel someone to run out and buy a PS3 just to use it? This is my point exactly! SO! You see "home" and rush out to spend $300 on a console system that will be outdated in 3-5 yrs? OR- stick to a PC that allows you to upgrade, and a virtual world that allows one to build what they need and not have a corporation's idea of "fun" pushed on them And need I remind people: What happened with Google's "Lively"? If Google, the worlds biggest search engine and all around everything, can't survive in a Virtual World, whats the odds Home is gonna last?? Not that I'm bashing consoles. Hell! I just finally bought a PS2 in January! They're "ok", but I'm not about to dump a high-end PC in favor of a console anyday. I have a friend who's stuck using an old Pentium 3 computer. He likes to brag about the graphics on his consoles. I'm like "Dude? I've had that stuff for years on the PC". Ah, and his talking about Netflix on the 360. Wow! So he can spend the same amount of time waiting for movies to stream as I do? Woo-frickin'-Hoo!! The only console I find unique so far is the Wii. BTW- as a PC gamer- I dont pay a damn thing to play online!! SL is my only "pay to play" as it were.

From: Bree Giffen I haven't heard of any of those companies in SL. I've been to Sun's island. They have nice freebie prim versions of their servers and desktops.

From: Tod69 Talamasca What happened with Google's "Lively"? Google abandoned it. They didn't do anything about any of the user-generated content they were originally talking about. They didn't come up with a single update for it, even to fix the horrid navigation problems. It felt like a college senior project that was abandoned once the creator graduated.

But there is a bigger market out there than only the PS3 gamer. Also PS3 Blu Ray owners have a nice extra with Home. If Home expands I think I will spend a of time on there. The thing that really appeals me in Home is that it makes my TV a communication tool. I prefer TV over PC screens.
