The money trees I have gone to are often always at $0 linden in the trees, they seemed to have been abandoned by their caretakers.
It is the same with the victory gardens.
I have tried camping but much of it is taken by people with auto-clickers so I have no chance of getting a place and I have also been told that camping is not allowed.
I do not have many friends, and the contests at clubs seem to be won by people with lots of friends to vote for them. Also they are themed where you have to wear a certain type of outfit to enter. I have become good at finding free clothes, but not for contests.
Other than a job taking my clothes off or having sex, how can I have some linden dollars in my pocket?

Your best bet is here: https://secure-web2.secondlife.com/currency/buy.phpAnything else is going to be ultra slow, or involve 'taking off your clothes and learning the cyber,' or, if you've got the right kind of charisma and music sense - DJing in dance clubs. If you are really savvy you can try land flipping, but right now the market for land sales is -VERY LOW- and most land flippers are losing money hand over fist... and that involves real world money very fast...

You could...
1) pull out your credit card 2) create and sell content 3) get a job (hosts, DJs, greeters, sex workers, club managers, etc.)
If you get a job, I'd suggest you do it because you enjoy it. It's unlikely that you will even come close to making minimum wage in SL. If you want to sell content, you need some technical skills and possibly some upfront investment money.

Thank for all the ideas.
I cannot spare any of my own money right now to buy linden dollars, actually SL is my new form of economical entertainment since it doesn't cost anything.
One day when I have learned how I would like to create and sell content.
Once I have earned some linden I may try land flipping. I would have to research it since I have no knowledge of it.
I may be able to get a job soon, which I would like, but the applications I have received through the classifieds often have an age minimum, which I do not meet.
LittleMe, thank you for all the links. I am going to read through all of them.
If anyone else has more ideas I hope you will post them.

Zuki, there are ways to get $ in SL without giving up your pixels so to speak. There are hosting jobs, modeling, contests as you have mentioned, creating items to sell, filling out surveys, there are some stores that will also pay just for you to have them listed in your picks. You had mentioned outfits for themed contests, have you tried looking on xstreet for free clothing and items? https://www.xstreetsl.com/ there are a great deal of free and low cost items available. Also, have you discovered any of the blog pages yet? There are some that will give you the lm's to some really great items, all for free! Here are a few: http://fabfree.wordpress.com/http://ffform.wordpress.com/http://freebietelegraph.wordpress.com/You will notice that there are links to other freebie sites on the right hand side of some of those pages as well. I myself spend very little in SL, well there is my monthly tier lol Feel free to im me in world, I may have or my friends may have certain items that you might like that we can share with you!

There are a ton of free textures to be found inworld that you can use to begin building with. Try The Gnubie Store, and there's also a large box of textures at Skybeam Sandbox (by the signs at the side) that you can use.
Go to The Ivory Tower of Primitives to learn how to build, and once you have a few items made get a Magic Box from Xstreet SL (the outworld shopping site for SL) and put them in it to sell on the site. Xstreet SL offers free Magic Box hosting for I think 60 days to begin with, during which time you may have earned enough L$ to rent a small store from which you can sell your creations.

The thing is that all the money in SL is real money.
It's on a funky exchange $1 USA = $260 Linden (give or take about 10Ls), but that -IS- real money.
So any money people give you for a job, is real pay. But the rate is very, very slow inside of SL. Most jobs will give you 100 to 200L ever few hours or so. Camping might give you less than 100L for an entire day...
Land is going to cost you 1000L for a junk 512 land. That's a coffee at Starbucks, but earning it with a job inside of SL could take weeks.
But if you really, really, really don't want to spend any RL money, try this tactic:
Hit these two places: Free Dove Freebie Dungeons
- get a whole bunch of outfits.
Now start going here every weekday: hO wEAr 2
- soon you will have a good fashion wardrobe.
Now hit dance clubs with contests, and put together custom mix and match sets, and enter the contests.
If you have a good personality, you will be more likely to win. This can get you from 100-1000L per contest, or gift cards of varying amounts.
Contests tend to take 2 hours.
You will also make lots of friends - which is the real value. SL is a community more than an economy...
Keep in mind that it is a community and you can succeed in its economy. Forget that it is a community first and you will fail in its economy.

For the most part, you do not really need much money in SL - especially in the beginning. Check out these two groups inworld and their websites: SL FREE*STYLE -- http://slfreestyle.blogspot.com/Fabulously Free in SL -- http://fabfree.wordpress.com/Here is another good website for decent freebies: http://virtual-freebies.blogspot.com/

I really like this article about earning lindens in SL which is written in a concise, non-judgmental way for anyone seeking the answer to your question. It's presented in order of earning potential and you can choose for yourself if any of those options are worth your time and effort, or whether it might be easier to buy lindens if you are the financial position to do so. It's a great blog in general for anyone that runs a business in SL: http://virtualworldbusiness.com/2009/06/15/seven-ways-to-make-money-in-second-life/

Not if you need dollars quickly, at least. If you are interested in realty why not get to know some rental agents or rental sim owners and see if they might take you on for odd jobs or training to be on staff = showing people around, etc. Maybe they'd even throw you an empty apartment or skybox as part of the deal. Most people will not hire anyone younger than a month old because too many griefers use new alts or new avatars, and that's the business' reputation on the line in who they hire. Also, since newbies will likely be coming to you for help, hard to be a newbie yourself and know the same amount as they do about SL.

I'm glad that you say SL is your new entertainment. It's great, and it's quite inexpensive EVEN IF you spend a little money on it to buy $L.
Let's say you drop going to one movie and one meal out per month. The movie costs you $8 plus another $8 for popcorn and soda. $16.
Eating out, even at McDonalds or Pizza Hut, is going to run you $10. More if you go to a nicer place.
So we have $26. That will buy you about $L10,000...which is enough to live comfortably on in Second Life for a month, if you are careful. That's maybe 100 hours of entertainment for the price of four hours in RL.

20USD a month is extremely inexpensive for the socialization and entertainment value.
That's worth roughly 5000L$. You could be a big spender in SL for less than $5 a week. Give up a netflix movie or a pizza. Have Mac and Cheese and stay home with SL.
The idea of "working for L$" will give you an overinflated sense of the value of the L$. (if it took you a whole day to earn 100L$.. that must be a lot!.. except, it's still only 40 cents.)

It isn't who you know, though that helps, but how friendly and outgoing you can be, in a lot of cases. Other than that, I have a linden chaser HUD you can have. IM me inworld and I can send it to you.

I used to test the security at clubs and get paid for it but since the decline of weapons effectivness that business is dead now.
A new good way too is to sell 5 star reviews on XStreetSL so that merchants don't have to get busted using their alts and tenants to leave raving reviews for their stuff. Ask for 10-15% of the Item price.
Another way is to start copying poor quality photos from the internet and start selling them in a big texture store. That can make you a lot of money too. Just don't forget to add a strongly worded license and threats about what happens to people who violate your copyright when they steal your stolen stuff.

Ive got nothing but freebies and I look great. I do not need a lot of $, but even on the freebie blog items, many "free" things that I would like cost $1. Thanks to everyone for the creative suggestions. I am happy to have met some of you "in world".

You're better off working 1 hour overtime in RL, then using that to buy Linden Dollars in SL than slave for 10 hours in SL and get bored. Better of spending 9 hours learning to make stuff Landflippings easy, reportedly there are heaps of noobs making a fortune in something most of us Olbies wouldn't touch now with a appropriate aged weasel. Land flipping to any sucessful degree involves big investment of RL cash anyway, which you may be better just putting it in the oven and watching it ignite. Some people who do make lots of money in the land game are only doing so because they use questionable ethics.
