Xcite vs.....

All you have to do it override arousal using the HUD. It takes about 3 clicks to change between the "realistic" version of the Xcite stuff and one more suited to roleplay. It's amazing how many people never figure this out, even though it's well documented.

ahem... I have a very vivid imagination and I am - even though I say so myself - a shit-hot RPer (unless modest people are your thing!). I like the XCite stuff because it faithfully reproduces the RL gap between what the brain finds horny, and what the body responds with. brains and bodies in RL can completely disagree about what's hot versus what's wanted, and the sense of balancing one's imagination with one's physical responses is a major input to the whole RP process. Especially when floating close to the shallow and dangerous waters of what's consensual vs what's not...

Yes, yes and yes! Xcite can. I have no problems with the male aspect of xcite but the female parts for me leave a lot to be desired. For one, I can't make mine work automatically. For some odd reason, I have to click override for every little response and that for me is distracting and annoying. I'd rather be typing sexy little innuendos than clicking little buttons with little sayings that no more would appeal to me or my partner in real life.

Hang on a sec. What you mean isn't "the human mind" it's "MY human mind" - so you don't need this stuff - so whoopee for you. In fact, you don't need avatars, because imagination is SO much better (blah blah); you barely need communication, because Imagination (etc etc).

Fact is, other people may need it. Telling them they shouldn't is a very dull and down-dragging way of looking at the situation - you are saying "ahh you poor downtrodden worms, look at me, I am superior in ways you can't even hope to emulate", which to my mind pretty much guarantees that they will carry on having what is by their standards, great sex - and will be sure to leave you right out of the party, for the forseeable future.

There *are* good reasons to use PBs as part of an RP - the fact that either partner can control the pose listy menu, and poses segue into one another, is a very handy way of providing basis for imaginations to make comments in the middle of a scene which would otherwise just be "unh unh" or worse still, "mmmMMMmmm".

I mostly use text chat and imagination.

When I do use scripted genitals, I use SK Intimate. It has the advantage of only needing one attachment to "activate" all your erogenous zones, rather than a separate one for lips, breasts, etc.

It does have the same disadvantages of the other brands we've mentioned here...operating it can be distracting, and its stock chat is pretty banal (you can edit it, though).

Sweet Primrose's comment sold me a Venus from Winter...don't let anyone tell you that Forum posts don't affect your business! I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, though.

The user manual is pretty thorough, definitely give it a read. I spent the better part of 2 days writing it, and organized it like a training course that I used to give to store employees.. so really, read the manual and you'll know almost everything about using Venus.

I'll agree with Lindal here. One of the best encounters I ever had was dancing on a beach, and the beachwear stay on. And another was dancing, in full formal, at Bogart's. Some guys really know how to write - and that is all that is truly needed for an absolutely amazing time.

That being said, there are times when the posing and male attachment adds a nice visual to things. I don't use an 'attachment', simply a very nicely done article of clothing.

The best you can do is simulate it. I have recently been on a mission to find the right clothing to allow me to simulate this. I have found some shirts that have versions that allow me to go from buttoned to unbuttoned. And I was able to create a few copies of a prim skirt and adjust each one's position so that it looks like it is sliding down my legs as I switch from one to another - if I had any scripting ability, I could possibly do that using a script similar to the 'skirt sitting' scripts being used now.
( /me makes note to figure that out ).

With enough determination, I think many things are possible in SL.

There are "rip/strip script" prim skirts, silks, and at least one prim bra out there. Your partner touches the item and gets the option to lift it, or to remove it. I can't recommend the prim bra...it looks like a pair of coconut halves with straps.

I've done that, the dancing in full formal wear (it was Frank's place, just to toss a name in there). Describing the actions, the movement of the hands, the brush of the wind against the check/ear/throat. The things I was doing, right there on the dance floor, but with my hands hidden by the clothing, blocked from the view of others. She seemed to like it. Of course then she disappeared on me and removed me from the friend list, so maybe I'm quite bad (not a direct connection, there was several days that passed of fun before the sudden disappearance).

I've also been fully clothed in a club when someone just started describing some rather nice things in IM. Quite moving, really.

Since that woman disappeared on me, though, I haven't tried anything like that again.

And yes, there are, as later mentioned in this thread, clothing that the other can move "flip the skirt up or down", or "reveal" which flips up the shirt, and also "remove."

In terms of "products" - there was that one occasion where a woman and I just had some fun, tinged with eroticism, with playing with the xcite functions, just running through them. And another occasion where xcite was put to use in public (it was the right kind of place), just as a public little tweak.

It's why I had said it's all in the mind. Gadgets are ok but not really needed. You can use them for look but the real deal is using your mind. If you know how to use it you'll get the most out of it.
