Supply Linden is the "fine adjust" - the thing that keeps the currency at a stable value but isn't one of the big economic levers. Coarse adjusts might be the speed at which land is printed, land tier (nothing says it will stay at a fixed value), stipends, all that stuff. So while seeing Supply Linden decline when all else stays equal is notable, think of this too: they pulled a reeeeally big coarse lever when they increased private island prices last November. Drop land prices overall and Supply Linden's sales will jump like a rabbit, methinks. * * * * * As for premium signups, land rental might be impacting that in a big way. However, indirectly, I think it's just a market shakeout. For instance, for every 20 or so people that don't need to be premium by renting from me, I'm spending 295/mo on a sim. Call that 14.75/mo on average that the Company gets. Sure, they would make a bit more on average from Premium + mainland ownership. But also, there are many that wouldn't even bother with land unless there were places like nice rentals. A drop in Premium is telling the success story of zoned land, the way I see it. You also have to consider the days when the Lindex just wasn't working. And the instability that made it hard for anyone to even BE in the game, much less buy anything. What we've seen is a retreat from premiums and downgrading to basic. But people want to stay in the game, so they run to the islands or other rental property. That drop in premiums is very telling! Too bad LL is too caught up in its own agenda to see what it really means (service has sucked and is not worth the money to a lot of people). If I were to downgrade, I'd probably do the same thing - get an island plot, so I could not be homeless. |

It's nice, the Oryx sim. Waterfront on three sides. It's directly south of Cakhmaim, and a narrow land tongue goes into Chronocules (whch is mostly water) and from there into Dreadnought (which is water, one large eninsula, and one small island).

Who would need to be Premium when they can rent in lovely Liome Beach Resort on a basic subscription? Just echoing what Desmond said, really. A lot of naysayers always banged on about SL's premium subs being low compared to other VWs/MMOs, not understanding that every landlord counts for more than one subscription, some of them are worth dozens, or hundreds of "subscriptions" filtering up into Linden Lab's income. If SL is going to be a big success, eventually there should be relatively very few Premium subscriptions, as all the land will be managed by private, third party businesses offering access/rentals etc and paying for their spot on the grid. Linden Lab will just deal with platform stuff. _____________________
