Looks like the stipend payout was down 38,000,000L for the month of August. Divide that by 300L and you get 126,667 less premium accounts in August than July.

Is this just a glitch, or the beginning of the end?

Guess the constant dumping and devaluing of mainland has not had the desired effect. The new "Premium Zone" on the homepage should turn things around for them.

That is a glitch. There aren't even 120,000 premium accounts.

Some people get 500, some people get 400, some get 300, some get 50.... who knows. But no way in hell has there been more than 120,000 premium accounts.

That's likely to be all the Casino owners, leaving Premium status in droves. No need to pay for Premium if you can't run that Casino on the mainland any more, or anywhere else in SL.

Not necessarily. Stipends before November 5 of 2006 were 400L per week. I have seen somewhere also that stipends may have been at 500 per week but i could be hallucinating. Nevertheless, the numbers are still large however skewed as a result.

Yeah but if you divide 38 million by 300 (roughly) and THEN BY FOUR because there are FOUR weeks in a month, you get 31666 fewer accounts. That's a big difference.

Here's the recent premium numbers:

2006 November 42,430

2006 December 49,776

2007 January 57,661

2007 February 66,838

2007 March 75,714

2007 April 83,063

2007 May 89,845

2007 June 94,607

2007 July 88,797

I'm going to guess that August will be down to 80k, give or take 1-2k.

They were 500L a week....I still get 500L weekly, as do any that were premium before 6-6-06 , I believe. No hallucination.

July had an average pay-out of L$34.5 million/week, August had an average of L$33.7 million/week, or a difference of L$800k.

Which is 1600 at the L$500 rate, or 2000 at the L$400 rate, or 2666 at the L$300 rate.

Or simply 16,000 pre-July 2006 basic accounts who went on vacation and haven't logged on to qualify for their L$50/week stipends.

If there are less premiums, it's only going to by a minor degree.

I think a more-telling economic statistic is that in August, Supply Linden has only needed to print 40,000,000 new L$ in order to keep the currency stable. In July, they printed four times as many new L$s.

This means to my simple-math-mind that in August, the demand for L$ was only 1/4th what it was in July. A lot fewer people buying L$ means a lot fewer people spending L$.

The other numbers haven't changed too much - the number of new groups created or files uploaded, that's not a big difference. The number of land parcels listed in search, that's gone down a little, about 10% roughly?

It's August. People on vacation, kids getting ready to go back to school. SL goes through a significant change in demographics at this time of year. One month doesn't tell the tale - three months in a row tells the tale.

Well all this math so early in the morning is really not good for me. I'm sure somewhere, one of you is right, but I can't think that straight yet... ;)

The point is, there has never been 120,000 accounts. Ever. It's wrong. End of story.

All those returning to school this month or next have gone back to basic, who needs 300L a week when you have homework, sheesh.
