muting friends

Is it correct that if you mute an object, you also mute the owner of that object?

If so, is this something that may have happened in this case?

If you mean, did I have an object that has been muted, I would say no, I don't think I have anything that fits that bill.

My situation was actually very simple (and boring). Friend 'A' had various personal issues that rendered her not wanting to be present in front of me, so we maintained dialogue via IM. Romance with someone blossoms, and I am shunted into the background. Trying to act like a caring friend, I pass some cautious support, which was not well received. Hence this thread. I then contact friend 'B', who is best RL friend to 'A'. Nada.
Just to make matters even more confusing, friend 'A' engaged me in IM last night, as if nothing was wrong, although I think they realised my upset and was dealing with it in their own way. (I cannot accept that friend B would not confide to friend A ! )

So I will not delete (yet), but a rift in trust has occured, and from my experience of friendships, I will be very hesitant about opening myself up. Just for the record, I am in SL for friendship, but not romance, and that is clear in my profile.

This is perhaps more than I intended to disclose, but it probably makes it easier to see what has happened, and the reason for the thread.

Excuse my naivete, but am I missing something here? I can't see the value in this post, other than to try and close it.
