Honey, if you want to be told off via PM, you have to switch them ON! *waves*
![]() No really, they're off by default, and you haven't switched them on, so if you ever post in the wrong forum, it's impossible to tell you privately... (Well, we *could* try using semaphore signals with Brenda's panties...but I think that isn't very private either... )_____________________

poor Honey. Betcha didn't have a clue what you were letting yourself in for with the rant and all.
Anyway, just let it out. if people tell you to post elsewhere, it is only because you are more likely to get a more detailed answer. But you get quicker answers in RA so its up to you lol. Just ignore the people who have a go and focus on the proper answers ![]() Oh and for the record, I am never eating honey again bleugh ick.P.S. Wow look at me go! nearly 560 posts woo! lol _____________________

Underwear? He has underwear? If there is a collection, it is for show only and currently gathering dust. Aside from that leopard g-string he lifted from me of course ![]() I do have quite a collection of panties. I have managed to either buy (one pair) or sweet talk various ladies into giving me. Trout gets dirty pictures, I get panties. ![]() _____________________

Yeah, vent! Just start with a rationalized question, don't name names negatively, and go for it! If you're pissed, chances are a lot of other people are too, and it woiuld be good to air the issue, whatever it is.

Honey,
Occasionally you'll see that sometimes people do get overly snippy. You can figure they are probably having a tough day in RL and don't realize how they are coming across. For the most part, I see people corrected for posting in the wrong place but not necessarily attacked for it. The only ones that I've seen attacked for it are the ones that do it consistently or who consistently break other forum rules as well. It is possible you may be seeing those. _____________________

Do your best to post in areas that are appropriate, but don't lose any sleep over it. This section is a good place to start. Let the moderators do their job and move something to another section if it is in the wrong place. (if there are any moderators in this forum anymore) Don't pay any attention to rude people who IM you; just put them on ignore/mute just like in world.

I was under the impression we were talking about men's underwear. Of course, you have panties. Mine included. _____________________

Please do post. I wouldn't have gotten to see that clever custom title about bee barf otherwise.
Me -- I feel it's my civic duty to question authority always, but not to defy it. Though I believe I've never started an inappropriate thread, I've contributed to some that have been shut down inexplicably. I just scratch my head and continue on. No real harm done to me and, after all, the web site doesn't belong to me. I wouldn't consider it a huge public humiliation. |

I don't see what qualifies a person to judge appropriate thread questions. Is the moderator well-educated? Have they passed stringent tests? Submitted a C.V.? Do they have a post-graduate degree from an established university, for example, and are they experienced in the style of persuasion? Or is a moderator a representative of the Linden task force who edits out inappropriate commentaries? Although I shake my head at some of the comments on the site, I do return to read the threads and I RARELY find anything inappropriate. In fact, the more inappropriate and zany, the better; after all, this IS a game. Taking SL too seriously is a recipe for disaster, even for the Lindens themselves.

Seriously though... I'm not kidding on the rare week I make a post, I scan the Topics over and over to see where the appropriate place might be and I almost break into a cold sweat the second I hit the 'submit reply' button in case its the wrong place. Anyhoooooo, I just needed to let that out cause in the first 5 mins of reading posts today I saw 2 people get reprimanded for incorrect posting places. (back to lurking) Don't worry about it. Post whatever you want. No one here has the right to judge anything thats written although some try. But they don't count so don't worry. If you praise the mods or Linden in your post somewhere, you can be sure they won't ever close it down nor say anything about it. It will live forever. |

Some of these are no-brainers and it isn't rocket science to figure out where it belongs. If you ask a question about building, it should be asked in building tips. Textures? Texturing tips. Scripts? Scripting tips. Although many people here create content, many don't, and there are some people who are experts on certain subjects that only read content creation boards, and they will give you the most detailed and thorough advice. Since when is that bad advice or unhelpful??
This isn't the place for every answer under the sun, and sometimes you will not get the best answer here. The actual questions that come up in here most often is probably about land, because it's so complex. Then perhaps group powers. Or just where to go. But when the forum gets enough of a certain kind of question to warrant its own forum (e.g., products wanted) it is a good idea to use that forum. But the problem is, people like to hang out in RA and don't read all the forums. But the ones that DO read any given specific forum will probably have better answers because they are actually interested in the subject enough to monitor it. _____________________

I think most of the times, responses saying this is the wrong place to post are made to genuinely direct the question to the proper place, not as a scolding. I don't read any of the technical forums, but I'd imagine there are people there who have a lot of the answers, and probably don't read RA. I agree with Cristalle that this is a great place to ask land questions, Starting with Ray and Desmond, and continuing on through toomany others to name, I think RA has the most accesable and helpful Land Experts.

Wait, a lot of people are blonde like me. It took me forever to find out how to post a new thread. When I come into read the forum I always just click on "New Posts" so I had no idea there was more than one forum because I just skim when I read.
After asking a few times how to post someone finally threw me a link to post in. Well that is exactly where I posted, on that link and wow did I get my ass kicked and my face slapped. They took the time to look up my profile in sl but they didnt take 30 seconds to send me an IM and tell me that I had done it wrong and how to do it correctly. They felt that since I had over 100 posts that I should know what I was doing. Obviously not, or I wouldnt have done it. Takes all kinds doesnt it, including me ![]() |
