Japanese researchers have figured out how to allow paralyzed patients access to SL using brainwaves:

So I figure with a neural plug in and a holoscreen, I could merge SL and RL pretty completely. Talk about multi tasking.
It looks like SL will gives us the opportunity to only interact with people from another country but people who are in many situations we would normally not encounter. Wow.
And it sounds like using SL could be therapeutic for these people.
Maybe a Wifi version of SL and we could have exercise classes!
My question? How awesome could the future get?

Not until they get the sensory aspect working. This would do it. If they can plug into your brainwaves, at some point they may have the ability to give you sensations this way. People who are awake during various brain surgeries can feel sensations when certain parts of their brains are stimulated. This clearly isn't going to be something that's available soon, but think about the possibilities both inside and outside of SL. (and I know what everyone is thinking - think about the non-sexual possibilities as well) _____________________

Where does your brain go when the grid crashes? Or if you're in a region when it reboots?
It's bad enough having inventory loss, I'd hate to have memories start going missing. Server error: Unable to locate memory in database. We also need the option to turn off the sensory feeds when we're in areas with damage enabled. And I don't want to get orbited or blitzed while my brain is connected... -Atashi _____________________

Don't forget that the data stream goes both ways. Data from SL goes straight into your brain, and your personal information straight from your brain into Aristotle/Integrity for continual verification of identity, age, sex, weight, ethnicity, credit rating, social connections, purchasing habits, political affiliation, sexual preference, religion, diet, and favorite teletubby.
