From: Raymond Figtree Wow! Those are some stunningly low prices considering how few sims have been dropped to auction lately. I wonder how badly LL is getting hit right now. I have to think this has to be their worst quarter in a long while as far as income goes... in terms of income from auctions yes, but point is that they make at least 3 million US$ each month from tier only (islands and mainland). This is a nice cash flow. Even if land price in mainland goes to 3 they will continue to make 3 million US$ per month.

Yes the new system has problems
10-09-2007 04:34
I won an auction on Friday September 5th. Auction closed at 1:45pm PDT. It is now Tuesday 4:30am PDT and I still do not have my land. Big chunk of land too. Lindens have contacted me and said.. write a support ticket. Tickets have been written. Still no land going on four days after close of auction.
This I hope answers any questions about if there are issues with new system.

Four plots total. No full sims, but two pieces of the same sim that almost make a whole. No bids yet. Yawn.

From: Egon Rothschild after submitting a support ticket over a month ago about a 512 piece of linden land, i finally got a response. it seems LL will be auctioning the land. i looked at the land today and indeed it shows an auction ticket number.
so i went to the auction website and .. nothing.
now i was told that it might take a while for it to "show up" but there was nothing on the website. no US$ auctions. no L$ auctions. not just the one i was looking for ... but NONE.
when i click on the US$ and L$ categories, i get "search did not return any items".
all "ending in one hour" and "ending today" and "just listed" links showed nothing.
i "signed in" also, and the same. no listings at all.
i have not been on the new auction site so i don't know if i am doing anything wrong. am i missing something ... or ... is there no land up for auction today? ok. i bid and won the plot in question. i'm not even gonna address why the price went so high. i've not payed this much for a 512 plot since the heady days of last winter. anyway, i've never won an auction before. has anyone here? i see the plot still owned by the guv. will it eventually be set to sale to me?

seems that the auction system is sorta stuffed at the moment.
in the bowels of sl, it shows available for me to buy. but it still shows as auction on ABOUT LAND and the website link from PAY NOW leads nowhere.
luckily, i got a hold of leo and guy linden who are helping in this matter.
i'll keep y'all posted.

just to let y'all know.. if you're still interested..
i talked to leo friday evening. it took about 2 hours but i finally got my auction land.
leo finally went around the auction system and just set the land for sale directly to me. whew.
i'm still trying to figure out just who bid this 512 plot up to $L15K. the old system showed just who bid after the auction closed.
i can't figure out how to see this in the new system. anyone know how?

What puzzles me is why so FEW parcels are listed for auction at any one time.
Thousands of parcels are up for sale across the grid.
The new auction system is "powered by eBay", a system that's proved itself capable of handling hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of simultaneous auctions.
So...lots of product. An auction system that can take the strain. But only eight or ten auctions listed at any given time. WHY??????

Thousands of parcels are up for sale across the grid. yes, but those thousands are "for sale" ... not up for auction. auction plots will show up in purple. "for sale" in yellow.

From: Lindal Kidd What puzzles me is why so FEW parcels are listed for auction at any one time. They did just change the auction system, too.. They seem to be adding more and more but it's been slow to start. LL will get a much better return by not flooding the auction market, too. It's not just if they can dump a ton of parcels in there, it's if it's in their best interests..

From: Egon Rothschild i've been around the block for a while. i have swapped with at least 2 of my neighbors. only after i got to know them tho. never had a problem.
this guy tho ... i decided it was best to stay away from him. i certainly didn't want to get involved with him financially or land-wise. the reason i was supposed to look for land for him is that he's not in sl much anymore. well, i figured, since his membership is up in late november .. i can wait for his membership to expire and his land go to the guv .. and hopefully to auction near the end of the year. i'm patient.
and since i have his ugly build surrounded on 3 sides by a very nice, high, ivy covered stone walls ... it's not too bad.
i just thought you'd all get a kick out of the L30K offer.
(i know i did) Of course he will probably build a giant toilet on it now for you to look at. LOL

No full sims to auction in quite a while. Perhaps it's that the new system is borked, or because the market is still scraping bottom at L$6.1 per meter. Wonder if Jack Linden will make another post. Typical of LL, they claimed they would be more forthcoming with auction info. This resulted in two blog posts and silence ever since...

I think the new auction system is still being worked on - I know Sindy won a few parcels Saturday night and was pretty grumpy about the way the system worked...

The auction system will take off if they let us residents use it to sell our parcels.

Don't worry. Be happy!
There are 34 sims in purple on the Corsica map right now. Most of them were not even there to have any colour a few days ago. Could be that someone will start pressing the buttons soon.
Most of it is granite, but there's a nice little isthmus in the south east. You could have an isthmus for Christhmus (and maybe 'for cheep').
