From: Trout Recreant ...I got called a terrorist yesterday because I have a somewhat dark skin and long hair, so I must be an "araback terrorist ikickyourass". Yep. Trout Recreant - Taliban operative... Yeah, you meet all kinds on OI. I was in intense open chat with one person when another comes up to us and starts talking to me. I'm trying to get far enough with the first person to then help the newcomer, when he snarls, "Goddammit, Lindal Kidd, talk to me!" Talk about rude. The ones that persist in trying to have sex with the mentors, their fellow noobs, and the furniture I generally give a landmark to Hard Alley. "Smile and wave, boys, smile and wave". I'm also tickled by the ones who ask me if I'm real. I mean, what good does an answer do them? I could still be an audioanimatronic puppet. But they seem reassured when I tell them that I am in fact a person. It might be more fun if I responded with, "Please listen carefully as our menu options have changed. If you have a question about Second Life, press 1. If you want to leave Orientation Island, press 2. If you want to have sex with this avatar, press 3 and deposit $10US to the following PayPal account..."

The guy who accused me of being a terrorist demanded to know my name as well: Him: What is your name Me: Trout Him: No, Your name! Me: It's Trout. You can see my name floating over my head. Trout Recreant. Him: I want your name! Me: You can't change the name tag over your head in Second Life. I swear, my name is Trout. Him: A/S/L. Me: Just over one; my rezday was about a month ago. Clearly, my avatar is male. He has a beard for Christ's sake. What do you think he is, some sort of circus freak? And English. In your case, it appears I speak some dialect of English other than yours. This is where I got called a terrorist because of the color of Trout's skin. Some people are already lost causes when they are born.

From: Totus Brim About yourself in SL.
Ok, I have 5 friends. Two of them I mainly hang out with, the others not so much as i used to, but I see them from time to time.
I dont have any job and im not in any relationship.
I got into sl by stumbling by the website. I was searching "second sight" and on the search one of the websites was second life. I looked at it and joined.
I just mainly go around exploring, but not on sl much 200+ on the contacts list, mixture of friends, acquaintances, and business related (majority being friends) I am a customer service rep at Avatar Island (and DJ when I get the urge in same location) I also own my own store, create prefabs, furniture, clothing, shoes, hair, skins, shapes, kid stuff, dabble in scripting, odds and ends I married my SL sweetheart in RL so my SL partner is also my RL hubby I do not do much exploring anymore

I just mainly go around exploring, but not on sl much About 75 names on the friends list, of whom maybe 6-10 I hang out with on a regular basis No job in SL, unless you count building stuff and giving it away free to friends and newbies, and hanging out on Help Islands with my Mentor tag on. I used to make furniture for sale but when sculpties came in, and I couldn't get the hang of them, I found myself left-behind so I quit. I also maintain a blog in which I post about freebie stuff for men (since most other blogs post about womens fashion), for which I don't get paid but I do it anyway. I think my true forte in SL is to help new residents, whether its teaching them to build, or showing them where to find free stuff. I have a relationship in SL, with the same person that I have a relationship in RL with. (and this sentence is so grammatically incorrect it hurts my brain) I found SL initially because one of my friends found it first, said "Hay Karl, I found something you're going to love". He was right. I did. My friend quit after a month, and over 2 years later I'm still here. My time in SL is mainly spent either hanging out with friends, "shopping" for freebies for the blog, and mentoring/teaching.

This is fun in a show and tell kind of way.
I guess I have about 30 on my friends list, most I don't hear much from, if at all. I delete them when I can't remember who they are. I have about 5 people I keep in regular contact with.
I don't have a job. I have one rental property which gives enough spending money. I pay my tier from RL funds. I used to make and sell a few things, maybe I'll do that again sometime.
I'm a little embarrassed about my relationship as I used to be quite dismissive of SL relationships. a little over a year ago I met someone that changed my mind. It's probably not a typical Sl relationship, if there is such a thing. We don't spend huge amounts of time together as we both work full time and are 3 or 4 hours apart. It's great fun though and we have become very close. I regret telling a friend to shoot me if I ever got SL partnered.
I first heard about SL through an article on virtual economies. I came for a quick look to see how the economy worked.
Saying what I do in SL is a hard question. It's the variety that keeps me here. From building to art and from discussion to RP, I enjoy it all. If I'm not enjoying it I log off.

I just mainly go around exploring, but not on sl much I have a huge friends list, but very few I am in regular contact with. A lot are useful contacts rather than friends. Lots more are newbies I have helped at some point. I did think about pruning the list but then got an IM along the lines of "Hi, you probably don't remember me, but 6 months ago when I was new you were really helpful and I just wanted to say thanks". I'd have felt really rotten if I'd unfriended him. The only times I knock anybody off the list is if they are really annoying (like one guy who kept holding conference IM's in Spanish, which I don't speak - at least I think it was Spanish - it consisted mostly of him and his friends howling and wooting with lots of exclamation marks), or if I see that the person hasn't even logged in for a year or more - I just assume they are gone for good. I don't have a job and don't think I would bother just for a few $L, although I was lucky enough to get some building work a while back which paid RL £££'s. That was definitely a case of who I knew rather than what I knew. I found out about SL via a digital arts festival, and came here originally with the intention of researching artists who were using SL to create work (OMG! It never even occurred to me to do a survey!). This is still a major interest of mine. I have become a bit of a recluse in SL over recent months, as I am spending lots of time building and trying to learn animation and scripting. I have started exploring a bit again though, and am really interested in the mainland geography and road networks. I have had a relationship here - it was good while it lasted, but just sort of fizzled out as he had less time to spend in SL.

From: Smoke Gordonstone You can make folders in the friends list?
Edit: Excuse me, Contact List. Sorry Smoke, my fault, what I wanted to say was that my calling cards' folder has subfolders where I have all calling cards organized, call it an agenda or what ever you want, and no, I don't delete calling cards, we never know if in the future we'll need to contact someone... lots of space?? nahhhh I bet you ladies have lots of full pack hairs with +70 colors... so what's the problem of having 100/200 calling cards? heheheh

I have about 10 people on my friends list. If I don't talk to them for awhile I take them off. The ones I do have I talk to at least once a week.
I have never held a linden paying job. I have landscaped for friends and built things for them but I do it for the enjoyment and helping them out.
I am partnered. I was partnered on Dec 23rd, 2007. My partner and I joined SL and met on that same day in October. Usually if you find one of us the other isn't far behind. He is my best friend and the love of my life.
