Wait this tool will block us from lawsuits? Last I checked we were told to speak with lawyers about it. It protects LL only and even that is up to debate.

It protects Linden Lab by leaving you as the target. No, it doesn't really protect you, though it could be better to have it than to not have it. If there is misinformation about what the service does, it actually puts you in a worse position- if you knew the flaws in the system, you might decide the best way to protect yourself is to not provide adult content at all.

To be fair to LL, Amity, they didn't stop the discussion - Millie did, and she's only a resident. She said it's "vile" and "out of respect for the deceased" she locked the original thread. That's what I have an issue with - Millie deciding that she she didn't like the topic, so she locked it. Someone in the second thread agreed with Millie's view, but thought that she shouldn't have locked it just because of that, so Millie got reported.

The reasons that Millie gave after that were just excuses, imo, because it had been pointed out that locking a thread for the reason she gave was wrong.

I've just had a look at the forum Guidelines and I was wrong to repost the thread after it had been locked - and I did it twice. I should have given the threads different titles because the discussion itself is a good one, imo. I did the same with Ciaran's thread a couple of days ago - the one about the MOTD. Millie locked that one because of something that was in it, but the discussion was a good one, so I reposted it. I actually thought it might have been locked for censorship at the time. If Millie was moderating here in practise, she could easily have PMed me after that repost, pointing me to the forum guidelines.

Anyway, she did what I suggested - left it to a Linden - and I'm content with that. If a Linden says words to the effect of "Thou shalt not discuss that topic here", I'll accept the censorship - and leave this forum.

I believe you did without consent. LL has your CC on file likly and just used that info to give to them. I'm in the same boat though I am 99% sure (short of a never before had drunken stupor) that I have not registered with verification either.

You do not have to use Aristotle was my point, unless the land specifically states 'ban all except age verified.'

You can also use 'account verified' to access adult land such as in Zindra, (if the land owner allows this), and that is per Linden Labs' rules. In other words I did absolutely nothing wrong.

Zindra does not allow teleport unless you are either age verified or account verified. I had to be one or the other, to get in.

Account verified means payment info on file/in use such as premium member, which I am. Hope that clears it up.

Agreed you did nothing wrong as I said. Though I think LL just hands off your data to Aristotle.

No, they don't. LL doesn't have the data Aristotle asks for, SSN, DL or Passport #. If you give them a CC number for Payment Info, then you have access to the Adult Continent.

Phil, I agreed with the mod that telling people how to commit identity fraud wasn't really appropriate for a game forum.

Identity theft (including of a deceased person) is illegal.

Also the last part of the Aristotle form is an agreement that the form can be sent to the user's government - so the person would be in very hot water were that to happen, if their info was not their own. JMO

What if you'r stealing the identity of a non-existant person though?

I don't really care too much if the threads keep getting removed, as long as the messsage sinks in to LL that they have a problem with a verfication system that is so easily bypassed.

Then it's not identity theft. In one of the threads, someone mentioned using Google Earth to get a street name and town, invent a street number, and use any old name, etc. No real people, living or dead, need come into it. It's creating an identity, not using someone else's.

Can't really answer the question as it's phrased - Lol (the above is not possible).

You might be charged with 'falsifying information' if the person behind pursuing that were really interested.

I think people should take the 'agrees to have all info sent to the person's govt to be checked' part at the bottom, a bit more seriously. Cos ya just never know.

I would guess they could charge you under the same hacking law that they charged that Facebook mom under. Might be stretch, but the right or wrong US Attorney might run with it.

What about zombie creds? Are those ok to use??

Like, you know, they're dead but not really. Same with vampires too, I guess.

Most of my SL friends aren't even in the US. ID Fraud isn't a US thing it's a world thing.

Well it could be worse, you could find out there really has been a Darth Popsicle living in your attic for the last 10 years :)

However all Aristotle asks is that the information is "True" it does not ask if the information is yours or belongs to you, therefore imo Aristotle needs you to declare that the information is yours and it is you that is submitting it ;)

It is all around the wording that Aristotle uses when you verify.
