I've run businesses since I was a teenager. I can't think of one that would have functioned without some revenue. Figured out as a teenager....that comes from a customer. :) Also figured out that it will not come continually, if you don't take care of customers.
Exactly my point, and I am going to frequent the businesses, SL or RL, that care about me as a customer. And, yes, I keep notes on nice proprietors.

No where, at no time, did I say profit is bad. Where do you see I wrote that?

From: someone
I ask if someone runs a business in SL....because I like to know what kind of experience someone bases their judgment on. I think the judgments you are making in your posts are way off.
What judgement? I stated an opinion that I do not like businesses that puts money interests over people. The remarks I made were directed at ONE business model, and one proprietor in particular. No other, and, frankly, I can imagine him laughing at my opinion. Rightly so, I'm just a very small cog in the SL economy. And, most likely, he is a nice guy, I just don't care for his attitude he comes across with in the forums.

But, I am going to treat SL vendors just like I do RL vendors. Just because the SL economy may be based on cents rather than millions, whatever currency, I am not going to change the standards by which I do business with a vendor. I am not going to excuse poor customer care because they make cents rather than millions.

I think that you have some nerve with that last comment of yours. You have no information, no background, to make that judgment call about most of the business owners here. And if it was not a general assumption...and was directed toward me....you certainly have no information, background to make that judgment.
I made no judgment call about any SL business, other than what I mentioned above when he said he didn't care.

And, yes, the one comment was directed at you because YOU began your post by dismissing my opinion based on that Fox news remark. YOU had the nerve to make the comment you did, but I'm not allowed a rebuttal?

Or was that a humourous comment from you? Usually smiley faces indicate some humour. So I took offense to your comment that implied my opinion was of no value. If I am wrong, then tell me why you made that remark?

Pardon me for forgetting the smiley face. :)

I read your rebuttal...you read mine...everything should be squared away. :)

So do I....but I would hate for us to take the limelight away from Sling and Phil. ;)

Might push Elanthius over the edge.

I always address the ladies first....in spite of what pronouns you use to refer to Sling. :)

So do I - I prefer to *only* address the ladies. But we are talking about referring to them, and that's different. Anyway, it has nothing to do with gender - it's entirely to do with putting the lesser person last :)

I'll let Sling handle that one....unless Paracelsus has a rebuttal to offer. :)

Oh I think we can forgive Phil everything now.

The Profile picture of the female alt that he disclosed in this thread WAS SOOOO HAWT!!!

But... does she call people "Hun" when she's out and about?

I think it's an interesting concept for Elanthius to try, and I have no objection to advertising for him in my Profile. Heck, I already put stores in my Picks (most of us do). How is this really any different? We are calling attention to a business/service on his behalf.

To the person who said why should I advertise a product/service I don't know about, I understand. I personally have dealt with Elanthius and his partner on multiple occasions, and they have always been pleasant and professional, even giving me back land I accidentally sold to one of their bots! I have rented my tier to them numerous times, and fully expect to take advantage of renting a little extra tier back some time when I need it.

So, I am willing to offer a little free promotion to a businessman I respect, and I don't think it is slimy or "gaming the stats" at all. He is just going for some inexpensive advertising that just might work to his advantage, and that of the buyers as well. How is that a bad thing?

The man is an a very creative businessman, and I applaud his latest foray into a new type of marketing. Let's give him a chance to see if it works, shall we? We might all learn something from it.

Just my two cents (please don't flame me :) )
