What is a golden ticket? Is there a Willy Wonka sim I haven't heard about?

I think this is about the golden ticket that grows once a day on the networked money trees - in which case, yes, you have to be a premium member, under 30 days old, to pick it.

Though a Willy Wonka sim would be most awesome.

It only grows once a day, on one of the money trees in the world - the value fluctuates, because each money tree owner pays toward the golden ticket pot and can choose how much to pay out each day to the golden ticket winner. Today's winner received $798 (I know this because all of the trees display the daily winner and the amount.)

No, this isn't the Wolfhaven one. This one is made by Sapphire Bombay. You can get info about it here: Bravo Bravo @ Garmisch(60,200) or here: http://www.slboutique.com/index.php?p=buy&phrase=money%20tree&n=1&itemid=133375.

gold tickets
05-09-2007 10:42
well it grows once a day anywhere in s/l. I have spotted 4 so far and try to click it and it tells me to upgrade my account to premium. I did that and i still can't even get one. Yet I can click and receive the lindens from that particular tree. To me it is either a bug or somehow my account is screwed up or the damn tickets are bugged. Either way it isn't fair for some paid accounts to get one and not others.

It is up to the owner of the money tree whether you can pluck ANY kind of ticket from it. The default settings for a money tree (if I recall right) prevent unverified user accounts from getting anything from the trees. I remember changing mine so that unverified users up to 60 days old could pick from my tree.

So basically, if the owner of the tree hasn't made it so that unverified users can take money from it, they won't be able to get the golden ticket either.

Another note- even though the money tree documentation makes a distinction between premium and non-premium members, it's REALLY about payment info. You can have a free SL account and still have registered payment info on file. You do NOT have to go premium to use money trees- but SOME trees will require you to have valid payment info registered with LL.

I feel your pain

What i have been told is that the trees come with 3 possible settings, anyone can pick, require credit card details on file, or premium account holders. This is set by the tree owner and i also believe they can set the avatar age as well, as most trees can only be picked untill your account is 30days old, but i have seen a few with different ages.

The Golden ticket, I have been informed informed by a tree owner I IM'd is only pickable by premium account owners and that this is a rule set by the Linden folk.

Now I have upgraded to premium account, but am still unable to pick a golden ticket off any tree or anything at all off trees set to premium only. There seems to be some problem with the trees recognising my account status, and from folk I have talked to in game, others have had similar problems.

Most annoying for me is that so far in the 3 weeks i have been playing, I have found 7 golden tickets and not been able to pick any and been unable to get any help in resolving the issue.

Try IMing the creator of the trees, they may be unaware there is a problem:)

I did IM one owner and wasnt too helpful.

Basicaly told me i had to have a premium account to pick the golden ticket and that was Lindens rules. When i told him i had a premium account he said to contact help live or something like that and after spending a couple of days trying to find that i was told it no longer exists.

I have IM'd support but have heard nothing back and doubt i will before my avatar is to old for trees, as its not a game breaking problem that affects the grid or my ability to play.

Ah well I am not too worried as I make good $$ of my landmarked trees and the tree HuD, buts its always anoying to miss out on something you should be entitled to.

** oops tired and misread your text, thanks for the advice. Yup will IM the maker, but as some premium folk can pick and others cant i am guessing its an account problem ranther than threes, or no one would be able to pick.**

I have 2 money trees. You can set them to be no payment on file, payment info on file, or premium. You can set the maximum age. You can set how much they give out per day, both in general and to the golden ticket. I was not a premium member when I found and picked my golden ticket a few months ago. In the weeks I spent searching for them, I only saw that one. I believe there is a rule about only being able to pick one ever, so if you've found several, maybe you were able to get the first one and have been blocked from getting more. The creator of the trees has been out of the country for a while, and his profile doesn't mention when he will be back, only that he is gone temporarily. I don't think that there is any way it could be a "Linden Rule" that blocks certain players from picking golden tickets. LL doesn't get involved with telling people how to give away money unless they think the money was stolen.

Hence a reason why there should be a better way to deal with newbies then money trees. They are just outdated and totally abused. no matter how you set these trees the same ones with payment online will continue to only take from them without giving anything back to the game. I had a 3 money trees on my land during 3 month time. I had nothing but issues with them and the maker of the tree. if your a want to have a money tree "wolfen trees" are alittle better and don`t have as many issues. They are flexable enough show payment or non payment to give money. Golden tickets at times just not worth the effort because the only promoto more fake newbies ( money tree farmers ).

Just to clarify here, having Payment Info Used does not mean that the person is a Premium member. They may simply have bought some L$. AFAIK, there is no way for a script to identify if you are a Premium member or not.

Yeah, it's the money tree documentation responsible for this misconception. It consistently uses "Premium" to mean "Payment info used."

I take your points about Alts and Money Tree Farmers, but when I was a (true!) newbie, money trees were a good way to get some L$ (before I ended up putting RL money into SL ;-), and a good way to see different parts of SL - they helped with my exploring. Incidentally, I have since shopped at at least 2 stores that i came across when I was money tree hopping, so they have at least *some* marketing value.

But, looking back, I think one of the most valuable things I learned from money trees was how to get better with the camera controls and moving around. I don't know how else I'd have got proficient with the interface so quickly... so for me, that was the best overall benefit.

This is true but remeber that was a differ time & space. ITs out of control now and the tree farms are even worse now ( I assume then a year ago when they lefted and freebie accout flooded sl. Butr said facts are these money tree farms DON`T put money back in the game they only take out. Not everyone is like you here, specially when LLABS promotos sl as a money maker.
