That works a treat on 1.18.5(3). I turned my AO off and on without any problems - or button. Thanks for the tip Damanios.

Why do you fear change so much? Sl has to keep moving forward. You can't keep living in 2007.

But the current button placement is way ahead of its time. It's mind blowing. We're just not ready for it yet.

I think we now have the cast for the hilarious 2008 Broadway revival of The Odd Couple.

Thankfully there are no buttons involved when I need release. I've always been a zipper man.

I like my 501's. Button fly but they make me look like I actually have a butt.

who even uses that lame button ?

That's IT!
Considering how you walk in default SL, they should rename it from "release" to "Lame."

This sort of thing is one reason I never download updates anymore unless they are required. Just 'tain't worth it.

If you use Nicholaz viewers, then updates are *never* required.

Only if you write the book. I can do the music.

Those darn buttons inhibit a quick release though -- and how your butt looks after the release is more important anyway.

What would you do if you actually did find out who had the idea? Write a strongly worded letter? Email? Go down there and beat him until he changed it back? :p
hmmm...

I haven't updated, pretty glad as well lol if there are this many problems with it.

Considering how you walk in default SL, they should rename it from "release" to "Lame."

Ok fixed:

Go to:
- Windows: [program files]\Second Life\skins\xui\en-us\panel_overlaybar.xml
- Mac: [Applications]/Second Life/skins/xui/en-us/panel_overlaybar.xml (don't have a mac with SL installed right now, so could be different, file should be the same)

- Edit this file using text editor.

Look for:

<button bottom="1" follows="left|bottom" font="SansSerif" halign="center" height="20"
label="Release Keys" label_selected="Release Keys" left="229"
name="Release Keys" scale_image="true"
tool_tip="A script has taken control of your keys. Click here to release them."
width="102" />

- And change it to:

<button bottom="1" follows="left|bottom" font="SansSerif" halign="center" height="20"
label="Lame" label_selected="Lame" left="229"
name="Release Keys" scale_image="true"
tool_tip="A script has taken control of your keys. Click here to release them."
width="102" />

- Save and start SL.

Button should be called "Lame" now.

Thank you so much for this! I have successfully removed the Mouselook and ReleaseKeys buttons from my interface in Windlight. I am now going to try it with the RC and OnRez viewers which are set up similarly in program files. Where did you find this information? It's golden. Thanks again. :)

That is the WORST WORST WORST Place for both release AND stand buttons. I was jumping out of my seat all night!!! Don't these people also USE SL? Do they realize what a horrible user experience that creates?

I think part of the problem is they all have nice 24" in monitors to work on, plenty of room for all that crap.
