I'm curious and i'm sorry if this has already been said ... i looked but didn't see any other threads about it, at least in here.

Which junior brainiac at LL decided to put teh release button where the chat button has been for at least 3 years, AND make it twice as big as every other button on teh interface??
WHY oh WHY do you people insist on screwing with teh parts that work just fine? Why? anybody give me a reason?

"Daddy, the kids at school are all making fun of you!"

"Well dear, I'm sorry about that, but you shouldn't have told them I designed the SL interface."

This sort of thing is one reason I never download updates anymore unless they are required. Just 'tain't worth it.

Pretty generous with that term, there. Sort of like calling a box of paints an "artist".

I like the title of the thread. It's so grammatically incorrect that it actually makes sense.

Thankfully there are no buttons involved when I need release. I've always been a zipper man.

Go to:
- Windows: [program files]\Second Life\skins\xui\en-us\panel_overlaybar.xml
- Mac: [Applications]/Second Life/skins/xui/en-us/panel_overlaybar.xml (don't have a mac with SL installed right now, so could be different, file should be the same)

- Edit this file using text editor.

Look for:

<button bottom="1" follows="left|bottom" font="SansSerif" halign="center" height="20"
label="Release Keys" label_selected="Release Keys" left="229"
name="Release Keys" scale_image="true"
tool_tip="A script has taken control of your keys. Click here to release them."
width="102" />

- Remove the part
- Save and start SL.

Button should be gone.

Oooh! I wonder if we can remove the 'IM Received' button too!

Should be possible, same file:

<button bottom="1" follows="left|bottom" font="SansSerif" halign="center" height="20"
label="IM Received" label_selected="IM Received" left="0"
name="IM Received" scale_image="true"
tool_tip="You have an instant message pending. Click to show IMs."
width="102" />

Most of the SL interface is changeable using the XUI files.
Watch out with removing some elements though. Some viewer code relies on it being there and crashes SL if it's gone. (E.g. some of the code in the communication windows can't be changed without crashing SL)
Also some elements still look like they're hardcoded inside the viewer (for example the snapshots previews) and can't be removed/changed.

I really have to try this tonight at home. But to be safe I will make a backup of the mentioned file before editting it.
