yep, and that is even worse than seeing them too late... at least it is when you're pelting down route 7 on gaeta in your 911 turbo at 200 mph. ...or on your open 70 at 40 knots, going along the same coast.
..did i mention the fact that i would really love to burn that land owner there at the stake for setting a piece of land "group only" that extends way out into the ocean?
.. did i mention the fact that on that pyre's a second stage for whatever linden allowed ocean parcels to be sold at all?

I think the sim owner is in a very stroing position because he/she can ban the individual concerned by name from an entire sim.

From: Ian Nider yep, you can set that to see none at all. I think the JIRA mentioned is about being able to make the banlines bigger and bolder when you do want to see them. Like as Lance says when you're hammering down the highway at full tilt

There are race tracks for that.
Sure it's great to find unimpeded roads/waterways. But it should be seen, in my opinion, as a nice break. If someone chooses to put up a line around property they pay a stiff monthly fee for, it's their perogative. It might be a downer to run into for the boater/driver, but it's the land owner's perogative.
Going 200 mph down a road I'm surprised you aren't airborne half the time!

From: Clarissa Lowell There are race tracks for that. In SL, "full tilt" means "20 MPH", not "200 MPH". Nobody drives down Linden roads at 200 MPH, that's about 90 m/s, so you'll cross a sim in about three seconds, and a sim crossing takes about seven seconds to complete. At 200 MPH you *will* lose the chain of sims before you've gone a couple of miles. The fastest I've been able to fly long distance reliably is about 20 m/s, and that's at high altitudes. At ground level, on Linden roads? The default gliding speed for my Mehve is 8 m/s, and that's just under 20MPH. And I still hit the occasional ban line. Yes, really, you go much faster than that and you WILL hit ban lines, even on Linden roads. From: someone If someone chooses to put up a line around property they pay a stiff monthly fee for, it's their perogative. Of course, they're allowed to be an ass, and put up a banline around four Linden trees, and I'm allowed to point out that only an ass would do that.

From: Airt Pexington I think the JIRA mentioned is about being able to make the banlines bigger and bolder when you do want to see them. Like as Lance says when you're hammering down the highway at full tilt and depending on the location of your latest car shopping experience, "full tilt" can be pretty fast...

From: Clarissa Lowell If someone chooses to put up a line around property they pay a stiff monthly fee for, it's their perogative. and if they do it, i want to be able to SEE those effing banlines from far away so that i can stay clear of them. there's this neat waterway from caddo to linden village, would make a really nice sail, if it wasnt for the fact that there are non-linden owned parcels poking out into the water left&right all the time, and about 50% of them have banlines...

From: Clarissa Lowell ... Going 200 mph down a road I'm surprised you aren't airborne half the time! True. Its not the speed that kills me tho. Its the official judder bars otherwise known as sim borders . Them and the unofficial judder bars like where the Linden roadbuilder has built the roadway so it encroaches onto private property where banlines are turned on and/or the parcel is full already. Like a lot of others, I wouldn't mind being able to see them ones a little earlier than is often the case at the moment. I've got the sim crossings kinda worked out but them other ones, arg !!! I just re-iterate that any issues I have personally is not with the landowners beside the roads. Its the road-builder. Him or her I could cheerfully run over, multiple times even Geez I do wish that the LDPW would re-align some of the worst ones. Hell, I'd do it myself for free if they let me.

From: Deira Llanfair I think the sim owner is in a very stroing position because he/she can ban the individual concerned by name from an entire sim. Sim owners actually have this nifty button along the lines of "ban X on all my sims". Much more convenient than having to visit each of your parcels seperately to ban someone..

Sounds like the option to have banlines MORE visible, or some other type of warning ahead of time is a good idea.
What about a pop up that a ban line is ahead at ___ meters?

anything but popups! popups take keyboard focus away, or in other words you lose control over your vehicle for a moment... just make them bugger shitlines (optionally) MORE visible, and all'll be fine. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-15171

From: Tod69 Talamasca Just wait them out.
You'd be surprised how fast some neighbors leave. QFT! And it really *is* surprising how quickly some people buy land...put up a nice house or, on my sim, a huge houseboat...and a month goes by and land is for sale again.

One of the things I love the most about the mainland is that I can do whatever I want on my land. The thing I love least about it is so can my neighbors!
Only time you can AR for it is if a prim crosses onto your property. Otherwise, try a suggested thing of putting up a screen to block it from view.

I only put banlines up around my house for a couple reasons. Suffice it to say some people have got the IQ's of a rock or have a total disregard for anybody else. At one point, every single homeowner in the sim had put up banlines because it got so bad.
Those of us who stayed did get to know each other(common foe, ya know). We just added each other to our Land Access, no more banlines to see and we watched out for each other.
After two years the worst problem disappeared. The other business keeps reinventing itself as it gets smaller, and the owner did set rules for her customers.
I use my Home Security Orb now. I also agree that there should be a better system to see banlines before you crash into them. Maybe LL should hold a contest for the two best alternative banline designs? Winner gets free land tier for 6 months or a free sim to use for 3 months. Think they'd go for it?
