So I've been tp'ing around to all of these places tonight and wouldn't you know it, the two that I'm most interested in give me a popup that says you must be age verified to enter the parcel. Well I AM age verified with LL. What's up with this?

Even when I have a home, I am homeless. I didn't set out to be a drifter, it just sort of worked out that way. What's the point of having things if you don't have someone to share them with.
I keep offering, but you seem to be a bit hard of hearing.

;)

Wasn't there a thread fairly recently about how dead so much of SL is? That implies there is peace and quiet all over to be found.

Because it doesn't work or works in way SL god's unknowingly wanted it too so they could torture us and play jokes on all our pixel minds as they hang out in their "love machine."
LOL
I have never age verified I have run into place similar and haven't had issue other then sheer boredom and lag.
Yet those of you who have verified your age I have heard numerous times of this issue.

That's why I made my Megaskybox, originally. I still think my sky looks better than Windlight's.
In contrast, I've been building a post-crash slum lately, at 3000m+. I figure I can have a nice, clean, "pretty" ground level, and still have my "creative decay" without unduly upsetting the neighbors. (Admittedly, I have some ground-level Hazardous Chemicals leaking into the glowing purple crystals that still plague the Mainland in vast number, despite a brave Arborist's herculean efforts to count and report the goddamned things.)

in the sky, in the sky

Yeah what's one more lousy skybox. Have you seen the sky recently, especially on mainland?

I have a beautiful, no lag skybox at over 4000m up that you can use. There are other avatars there but they don't say or do anything anything all day and night. It's so peaceful there that you would even forget that you are in SL :D

ETA: I found it! I now have a place to set home. Thank you all for your contributions to my search for home. It's too bad that I can only afford one place. Maybe others who are seeking a parcel (and I know there are many) will find this thread helpful in finding a place of their own.

It's funny.... I bought a small parcel in Spinach, on the mainland. The sim covers most of a super steep mountain side, with a small bit at the base of the mountain. I put up a little sky platform and lived up there quite happily for some months... until everyone else put sky boxes up there too. Pretty soon it was more crowded in the sky than on the ground, with nothing but tacky skyboxes as far as the eye could see. So I moved to the ground. It's actually really cool down there, and I get an occasional passer-by just saying hi. I love it. :)

Beautiful tropical Waikiti has a couple of parcels available still. It's a small but established estate, and will be 2 years old soon. With a small, friendly community, it was built on a foundation of being a quiet, relaxed, easygoing place to live. Nearly half the estate is 'public land' with lots of open water for boating and swimming, there's a park, a beach and clubhouse area, and all the rental parcels are strictly residential. There's even a marina and an aerodrome. There is a small commercial area confined to one corner of one region, but that too is rather quiet and relaxed.

Visit inworld, just search for Waikiti or check my profile, or have a look at our website at http://www.waikiti.com/

Even with draw distance set to 512 there's nobody in sight from either of my skyboxes.

I had the same issue awhile back. My partner and I are both verified and couldn't access an age-verified parcel, so tried our mains, alts and different versions of SL. We finally got in, but it took some trial and error.

Which is really annoying.

No. At 64m draw distance I'm in blissful ignorance *grins*

Seriously, we've managed to place our sky houses (we're not in a "box";) strategically enough that we don't see much sky junk. Then again, we live in a fairly sparsely populated sim.

I have a rented appartment somewhere for 150 Lindens a week. (Can't spam the location here I guess)

For the rest I'm a drifter. I just travel around the map until i find someones SIM that is build able, and simply left to die. There are a lot of sims like this. forest like, empty, nobody ever there, and the owner probably didn't log in the grid for months.

I just hyjack a piece of land by building on it in a tiny hidden spot.

If the owner finds out and deletes my stuff, well, too bad then.

One more plus, it's free :)

Agreed. Yeah. The sky is terrible. Why'd you want to go up there anyways? The ground is where we all need to be.

I can't see a thing but the sky from my skybox :)

You know, there's some truth to that one. The sims surrounding me have, mostly, pretty nice builds at ground level...but there are some really atrocious skyboxes between 200-800m or so. I had to go up to nearly 1000m (the level at which the ocean disappears and all you see is sky above and below) to get a view that didn't make me throw up.

It's too bad...there used to be the loveliest sky station up there...I put up a skybox near it just to look at it.

I put a platform up at 2002m and it's so empty up there and delightfully lagless, that I have to be very careful not to overshoot the edge of it. Here's hoping that I don't get taken out by a spaceship. :p
