In addition to the above advice, I would also suggest going to the Ivory Tower of Prims. It has on the spot tutorials for prim torture of every possible variety, plus notecards to read back while throwing your prims around. I have to admit I never took classes, I'm one of those "let's throw a box on the floor and see what happens if I hit it with a hammer" people. That first box was beautiful! I did and still do occasionally consult the Ivory Tower if I'm looking to create a particular shape, but my rezzable prim torture guide is usually enough. The content creation forums are fantastic places full of knowledgeable people that are always willing to help. Read the stickies at the top first though, especially in the texturing forum. So much information there, it should keep you entertained for hours. Most important advice IMHO: find something you enjoy and do it for the fun of it!

It's clear from thge above replies that there are no quick-n-slick answers to your request for help. You just have to get out there are start experimenting and find out what you like doing best. Look around at what's available, or even better what's missing. Ask yourself how you can improve on what's out there or create something new. Build a house, a couch, a table, make a cool t-shirt...... the possibilities are truly endless.
And it's really impoirtant not to get too depressed by the truly amazing stuff people are already creating. They were beginners once, too.
Whatever, but keep it fun!

Take a look at the tutorial videos by Torley Linden who has a fun way of explaining the basics. The thing that got me started was watching the building of Susanne Vega's guitar, the link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQL8_HB1HtQThis video inspired me so much I had to start building, and I went to Ivory Tower, took classes, and now sell my own builds. Good luck and have fun imogen
