I did, and my given reply is why I quoted that part of the ToS.

And I repeat a lack or inability to enforce it does not change it being a violation.
No Mort. I mean go and ask if traffic bots are against the ToS. That's the topic of this thread. Do it.

I understood what you wrote, Mort. I just don;t believe you've asked the question. If you had, you would have said so when you quoted the ToS. So go and ask the question.

I have, and you can ask if traffic manipulation, pick purchasing, and various other 'tools' are considered interfering with the proper function of the search system... but are unenforceable at the present time.

Because that is what I was told, now you ask.

But like your claims of the past I doubt you will, in any way shape or form do anything that might back fire on you.

Individual Lindens *do* speak for LL. The ones who were asked weren't random Lindens. They were not asked for opinions, and they didn't give opinions. The sources are correct.

Just take Phil's word for it ..

After all he has been shown to be such an honorable person.

I still don't believe you but alright - paste the conversation here.

You want me to ask if traffic manipulation and pick purchasing is against the ToS? If that's what you want, I'll ask. Just confirm it for me.

Why should I post anything when you do not?

And your data has been requested far more than mine, so prove your side first.

I want to see Phil give me reason to bother responding to something other than his childish "I'm right the world is wrong" mime

Remember that, when 2 people are in disagreement, they *both* think they are right. So according to you, we are both guilty of the childish "I'm right the world is wrong" mime. Welcome to the kindergarten, Mort ;)

I've copied and pasted my evidence more than once. That's why I asked you how often you want it posting. You haven't posted yours even once, and I don't believe you have anything that you could copy and paste.

You also didn't confirm what you want me to ask. I wish you'd stop swimming all over the place, Mort.

Anyway, I have an idea. Let's ask Jack whether or not traffic bots are against the ToS. Does that sound like a good idea? Or is Jack only permitted a non-official response if he doesn't agree with you?

Ok Phil..i'll help you out here as you're already aware of my conversation with a Linden today.

As a Conciege member i went into Live Support this morning. I'm certainly not going the copy & paste the actual private conversation into this forum or say which Linden employee and risk getting a Forum ban for it....I'll just outline the main bits. You can choose not believe it, then theres not much i can do about it....i'm certainly not going to try convince any of you.

Me : I have a business active in SL..I'm thinking of improving my Places Search exposure by adding a number of bots. I just want to know if i'm allowed to do so...or if this is against LL ToS? I noticed Adfarming are now disallowed...so wondering if that applies to external Bots as well

Linden : actually bots are not against the TOS, if they are not used to violate the TOS

Linden : adfarming is unrelated to bots actually and only affects mainland

Me : .......no these are bots..that would act as traffic to simply boost Places search, as i noticed my rivals have these with their inflated search figures. So i am free to use them?

Linden : yes, as long as you don't violate the terms of service, those should be ok

Me : what potential TOS could be violated by stationery bots in the sky on a Estate sim? Just so that i'm clear...they would not have any other functionality

Linden : copying objects without having permission for it would be one instance
Linden : or using a bot to harass another resident etc
Linden : those would be violations

I did ask about Bots regarding Estate Sims, you could add the extra violations for Mainland to the lists to include : drawing excess resources and prevention of residents from accessing a sim

So as it stands its ok, providing it does not breach those TOS conditions. If you don't want to believe that.....then fine..........do as Phil suggests and ask a Linden, preferably one that works in Customer Support.

And I got a different response, so get a linden that can speak to post that in an open venue for all to see.

Otherwise your conversation is about as solid as Phil's in regards to be hearsay or make believe.

Evidence I have seen is contrary, since search manipulation is a problem vs search optimization.

This is a circular argument:

"Bots are not against the TOS as long as you do not use them to violate the TOS"

Thus the Linden gave you useless information.

But you won't be the judge on how others view whether or not they are too strong - and "corrupt" is just too strong a word for any of this stuff, imo.
Fair enough, I refer you to the last part of my previous post again...

I prefer if you troll somewhere else. I really object to you even acknowledging any of my posts. You never produce any valid information or arguments except to tear down other people's postings. the whole day i've managed to stay clear of you....even with your early pot shots. Why can't you just leave people just alone instead of contstanly hounding people.?

I gave you info what a Linden told me in Support and that is what he said. You can twist it anyway you want......the fact that today 10000 bots are logged in is because they are probably all fit the criteria " yes, as long as you don't violate the terms of service, those should be ok "

now troll off!

The Linden just told you the same things they tell Everyone. If you paid attention you would see that.

Thats all they ever say when asked a specific question about the TOS. "The use of X is not against the TOS unless you violate the TOS"

Maybe you should follow more than one issue around here.

and typically you use your favourite trolling tactics of dragging up past acts...don't you realise how foolish you look to an outside viewer.

If you read ths post carefully, i specifially asked what would those bots have to do to violate the LL TOS and he gave me examples of them. You can live in denial all you want....but if you took the chance to ever log into SL once in awhile inbetween camping on Forums for 18 hours, you'll notice 1000's upon 1000's of traffic bots parked up and down the grid. The reason they are all there are because they are deemed not to be violating any of the clauses that contravene the LL TOS.

I read it very carefully all that Linden said in your quote is they are not against the TOS until they are against the TOS

Just like everything else around here.

Its the same spiel they give on everything.

If they were to ever get rid of Trafficbots there would be NO TOS change. Just like Banks, Ad-farms, ageplay.

Which *YOU* would know if you spent less time gossiping, snooping around people's profiles, posting personal information and issuing threats.

To be honest why do you even care if bots are allowed in SL or not.....it's not like you ever log into SL anyway, you camp on these Forums from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. How do you achieved one of the largest post count if not the largest on all of these Forums. You could be concerned if they somehow managed to develop a chat bots that could log onto these forums and upset your world....then you might have a cause worth fighting for. Prime time US game your AV is not logged into SL....you have been posting today alone for 12 solid hours in RA ffs!! You're a troll.....hounding people in RA is your form of entertainment, no wonder Phil simply mutes you. It's the best way

Whether you like it or not Second Life is LL's game, they can choose how they want to run their game. If anyone like yourself doesn't like some of their practices, you're free to delete your account......and whilst they have a VW monopoly they're not going to even notice that you left the building as there will be a boatload of new players arriving in the morning.

For now running Bots are an acceptable practice providing they don't violate any of the LL TOS, which is why we have 10000 + or so logged in right now. To be honest i don't see them ever banning Bots at all, because they are multi-functional.....and they do provide some useful services other than being traffic counters. So you better just live with that idea........they will probably kill traffic units in Places Sarch, so overnight you'll see 95% of the bots disappear leaving just the functionable ones in game. That is what i'm guessing will happen.

Now troll along...as you're beginning to bore me with your inane comments!

For one its none of you business ..even though you have a habit of stirring other people's shit up even when the conflict has died. If you hadn't notice we have both responded to each other's post already today without too much drama......and secondly i'll never apologise to that p@!%k anyway!
If Mort has any concerns, he's only has to PM me........but either way it still makes it none of your business! So carry on trolling!
