Oh! Oh! Oh! I just had a brainstorm but it's too good to share!
I'll give you my second idea which I used to push way back when and kinda sorta did myself--desert oasis. You'll need sand, of course. EDIT: Brainstorm #2 just came to me. Howzabout rocky prominences and rock-climbing animations. Has anyone done something like that yet? You could get to the top and then parachute or dive or hang-glide off. _____________________

How about a desert? A gully that actually has flash floods ... quicksand ... Heart Garden has some great thorny trees .. get some pronghorn antelopes ... llamas and gila monsters that actually spit ... I saw rattlesnakes somewhere.
With a stream where avies can pan for gold. Next to a hill with a gold mine maze in it. Pack your gold onto a donkey and it wanders off the edge of the sim and gets lost forever  OH and a red rock hill with trail bike paths! With, of course, a bike rezzor at the bottom for the convenience of your guests A broken-down gold dredge that you can climb on standing in a pond, with an old railroad track for a puffing billy next to it. You could defray expenses by renting out teepees to apache AVs Does Virrginia Tombola have Appaloosa's for them to ride?. |

Those things are big when out of the water -- and I made the mistake of tossing part of a cracker to one once. Very dumb. It was knocking at the doors of our time share every morning after that and nearly bit my hand off once. (I shouldn't post these things. People who know me would recognize this story.) For Keira, I always love ruins. Anasazi ruins are cool. I also wonder - I've never seen a geyser in SL. Of course the particles would annoy the heck out of your neighbors. |

I was attacked by a swan as an adult. No really. Those things are big when out of the water -- and I made the mistake of tossing one part of a cracker. Very dumb. We took some bread to the park to feed the geese but the person who fed them their real meals was unfortunately running a little late that day, so they were a bit...anxious. Pretty much every goose in the park came swarming out at us...I was maybe four or five and they were close to my height, so it was pretty frightening. My MoM had to put me up on a picnic table to keep them away from me. _____________________

This whole Swan/Geese swarm thing could actually be fun to do in SL. You could put up a sign with "Please feel free to feed our beautiful Swans" which would give out bread crumbs. When you rez them, swans would come out and attack you.
Maybe a sim dedicated to birds, like the Hitchcock movie. You could have a huge amount of birds around (most unscripted of course), and at certain times have some of them attack people like the bee swarm security system that already exists. Then you'd have to get away in a convertible coupe. That's actually my favourite scene in the movie, when Melanie(?) drives along the curvy roads with a bird in a cage in the front seat. Watch how the bird's head goes side to side as she speeds and turns along the road... _____________________

Since you want it to be a public kind of park, why not leave it open to group build, and let selected people be able to put in whatever they felt like playing with on a given day. Change it around every couple of weeks or so. You can do all the ideas here and then some. (limited to your desired audience of course)

Not as a sandbox, but kinda like how the Arbor Project works. I may just try this. I'll create a 'foundation' park, and go from there, perhaps! _____________________
