From: Czari Zenovka A woman without lipstick is never naked. That sounds like a great proverb...or advertising copy...or... ....I should go to bed, it's getting late. (That *was* a funny story, though, Lindal ) I can just see the cocmmercial now... open on a woman lying in bed, buble up to a fuzzy "dream" scene... she finds herself at the office naked, runs down the hall covering her face, people are gasping, get in the office and starts to freak out because people are about to come in, she reachs in her desk, pulls out her trusty lancome lipstick, puts it on real quick.... poof, instant confidence, she greets the people coming in and starts the metting, no one notices anything..... the power of makeup =P

My mistake was when I was a noob still, I accepted a dare by a more experienced friend (yes I know that sounds a bad idea already!) to sit on a rocket he rezzed. He then set it off and it orbitted me so fast that wierd things started to happen. Now I now know all about the effects of orbiting, so I know the avatar can get deformed and attachments can detach or go wrong. Well my attachments came off for sure. What I still can't explain was that my clothes also came off... And because I was quite new, I didn't know what to do...so up I went nude and then down I came nude...into the middle of a packed shopping square I also didn't know how to dress myself then, so I had to to scream help to my friend in IM who then came and rescued me, showing me how to dress....after he had stopped killing himself laughing that is!

Looong time ago i found one of these green goo followers that makes toy noises when you hit them and for fun decided to give them a self replication mecanism when someone would type an exclamation point in chat..
I showed them to a friend of me who found them hillarious and started typing exclamation points like mad.
I had to call a linden to fix my mistake as the sim was completely swarmed by green goo follow bots...

My biggest blunders in SL which weren't very amusing at the time but very educational. 1) Losing large sums of money on bad land deals. 2) In moody moment accidentally returning whole sims worth of objects. 3) Trying to make a very tall fairy flower like bed out of flexible prims. 4) Building blunders accidentally deleting or returning builds that took days to make.

LMAO so many hilarious happenings. So far Phil's is the winner of the thread and Lindel in with a close second nekkid in a mall with her lipstick. I haven't had enough experience here I see. The silliest mistake I've made was accidentallly deleting my entire skybox while building at around 500...or of course deleting a huge portion of my house. I just can't compete.

The silliest mistake I've made was accidentallly deleting my entire skybox while building at around 500...or of course deleting a huge portion of my house. That reminded me of something else I did when I was renting out skyboxes. I made a decor system for them, which allowed tenants to change the colors and textures of every interior surface from menus. It also allowed them to make certain things disappear - a couple of carpets, a rug, and a couple of low walls which became phantom when not visible. One day I got an IM from a tenant, asking how come he fell through the floor and down to the ground a long way below. I went to investigate and realised that I'd inadvertantly included a button that made the floor itself phantom. That was funny to me, especially since all the skyboxes had it, and they'd had it for quite a while by then. But what made me laugh out loud was when I imagined tenants playing with the decor system and thinking, "I wonder what this button does."

From: FD Spark 4) Building blunders accidentally deleting or returning builds that took days to make. Ouch!!! I think I'm the "Queen of Deleting Walls, Floors and Doors." I rented a small studio apartment my first months in SL and, thinking I had something else targeted, I deleted the door from my apt. I was so chagrined and embarrassed to have to contact the head of the community in which I was involved to ask for a door replacement. ...errrr, then almost felt like just deleting my avatar and starting over when I did the same thing again a few weeks later. Over a year now and I still delete walls, parts of floors, etc. of my home my accident...and I KNOW better. I *swear* I have the right item targeted. ETA: Hadn't read MoxZ and Argent's posts before I posted this. Ok, maybe I have to share the "crown."

Some great stories, thank you all for giving me some chuckles on an otherwise cruddy Monday! I too know the pain of deleting/returning a weekend's work, but I'm unable to spin the humour out of it today... I can only get as far as a title and byline: "The Day Atashi Learned About Group Land, Group Tags, And Auto-Return" A tumultuous little tale of excitement, adventure, and tragedy, wherein Atashi's first island is delivered and she spends a weekend building and landscaping, before enabling Autoreturn... (Warning: Contains graphic language.) -Atashi

In August I purchased an openspace island while I was away on a business trip so I could reserve that portion of the grid for an area I'm developing with my partner. I then promptly forgot the thing even existed. A week after the initial openspace announcement, I used the world map to teleport to all of my openspace sims to capture snapshots of the builds people had there, when I stumbled on this completely empty, completely generic openspace that I'd never heard of before... but I owned it.
I slapped my forehead and decided I should rent it out, as I would not need that particular island for our build. So I cleaned it up and listed it for rent. I was kind of disheartened when I realized that after three weeks no one had rented the sim. "The openspace market has dried up!" I exclaimed... and then someone IMmed me asking if I had any openspaces to rent out. I said "Sure!" and teleported to my once-forgotten island. It was at this point that I discovered I had set the island for sale TO MYSELF. It wasn't even appearing in land listings as a result, so no one even knew it existed.
Oy.

From: Lindal Kidd Um... I can't top Atashi's Replicating Ferry, but I did manage to remove my hair the first time I attempted pixel sex... And I've told this one before, but... I bought an animated lipstick and compact. I found myself in a crowded mall, and thought I would "freshen up"...so I went to the folder with my cosmetics in it, and clicked "Replace Outfit". Poof! I'm bald and naked in the mall, putting on my lipstick... Heh. So what did you put back on first? I would have gone for the hair, myself. (then the AO, then Mystitools... )

From: Love Hastings Heh. So what did you put back on first? I would have gone for the hair, myself. (then the AO, then Mystitools... ) I panicked. I TP'd home. Then I logged off. After my face stopped burning, I logged back on and got dressed. I always wear my HUDs first, if they're not already in place. Then undies, then clothes then shoes and jewelry. THEN hair. I like to choose it to complement my outfit. Had I been in public, I agree...the hair's gotta come first.

Being completely naked in public must be the most embarrassing thing for most of us. for me it happened when I was in a changing room completely stripped bare (except for hair and shoes). I crashed. When I logged on again I was in a very public place, where I had been earlier, but butt naked except for the shoes. I would have TPed to a more private place, but while the client was still logging me in my phone (in RL) rang and I had to step to another room to answer it. I was away for about 5 minutes. When I came back into the room with my computer, I was standing naked with a crowd around me.

At least I learned. Now when I log in I go to a private area where I can get dressed!
Pep. On my desktop I can turn off the monitor when away. On my laptop I can't, so it stays on during a quick trip away. Of course, even with my monitor off other people might have a problem with their eyeballs popping out.

Mine isnt nearly as amusing as these, but it was hysterical to us at the time. A couple of friends and I were in a large skybox one of them had set up for when she works. It was actually a huge box, all linked together somehow. She went afk and the remaining friend and I started plotting what type of abuse we could inflict on her avi for her to find when she came back. We figured dropping her to the ground would be fast enough. Since I didnt have mod rights I told our friend to phantom the floor. Being smart lil pranksters we moved off the prim that friend-about-to-be-dropped was standing on and just as I was typing 'make sure to unlink the floor prim' the entire box disappears and we all (including people that were afk in another area of the work box mind you) began falling to the sim (shops, of course) below. A couple of people ended up in the lake or spread around the sim. Having had issues where I ended up falling to the ground before (I'm a prim klutz, a skybox is not for me) I TPd home fast. The friend who did the deed had sat down on something in the box and was IMing me 'OMG, the box and everyone is gone'. Gone? Yea...apparently we dropped people AND a big box on top of people and the shops below because she made it physical instead of phantom, and it took us a while to figure that out. You can imagine afore mentioned afk friend when she came back. We each got IMs 'NOW what did you guys do?'
No one lets me come over and play anymore =(
