Ah... good old fashioned "pointing out the truth".... we called football "togger" at school so pbbbbttt... ;)

Anywho... I've had a look at that there www.secondfootball.com and after I've fathomed out how to work it I might give it a wee go.

I hope they've got a pitch covered in dog mess and broken glass with a busy motorway at one end. lol

You're right.

Remember Star Soccer? Sunday afternoon at 2pm I think on ITV with Hugh Johns.

British TV show with "soccer" in the title.

Shameful episode in human history.

;)

Hi Darnell, secondfootball is definately the best system to play on, they're always improving the game and its alot of fun. ill send you a lm to my teams stadium when i get online later :).

To sign up to the website:

find a totem(ATM) (some totems might be broken today) and type reset password into open chat. Then itll give you a website password in your chat history, goto http://www.secondfootball.com and log in using your sl username and the password the totem gives you.

Thats pretty much it except you can then edit your profile and pick your nationality, team etc, oh and you need to get the playing huds too at http://www.secondfootball.com/tools annd then your ready to whoop some butt :p :)

You can train with my team(Valiant FC) too if you want and we'll show you how to play :)

I haven't heard (or even thought of) that word in a very long time. That's what we called it too - togger.

Do you have an SLURL for one of the ATM's? the one the website links to no longer seems to exist.

Dammit, I have class on Friday at 1pm. Are you going to be on at some other time? Also I must agree with rocketman as everytime I go to the sites Surl, it leads to just the ocean and there isn't a totem in sight.

lol ok, remember I'm new so what is SLT? I'm pretty sure it means Second Life Time, and idk how to convert that into NY time. Also what's LM? Is it like a teleportation link you sent to my account? So when I log in a pop up will display asking me to teleport to your stadium?

Also a screenshot of your stadium in the sky would help out xP

SL Time is Pacific Time, since LL is based in San Francisco. That means SLT is 3 Hours behind Eastern Time. LM means Landmark. It just that. An easy way to remember a place. You can use it to teleport to that destination, but it doesn't ask you. It's just a link. You can create them yourself. When you find an interesting place, make a LM for it and keep it so the next time you don't have to figure out where it was.

Ever since the Americans invented their version of 'football' (even though it is primarily played with the hands, albeit for just a few seconds at a time), they insist on calling football 'soccer'.

Well, it aint. There is no football team in England that has the word 'soccer' in its name. Most clubs have the appelation, Association Football Club, or AFC for short, tacked on to their names.

I think the football loving fraternity of the world should unite, and start calling American Football something else, just to irk them.

How about, Foot and Mouth Ball?

Rock :)

The term Football was coined because the length of the ball is about 1 foot.

Stop worrying about whatever someone else calls or says about your National Game/Sport/Pastime, and just enjoy it. It's all just silly.

It wasn't an invented "Version" it was an invented game.

It was already pointed out, WE didn't coin the word Soccer. You did.

From: someone
The term soccer originated in England, first appearing in the 1880s as a slang abbreviation of the word "association", often credited to former England captain Charles Wreford-Brown

I can't even guess at where the word "togger" came from. Clothes are called "togs", but I don't see any link there, unless togs just refers to the football strip, uncluding boots, etc., as in "football togs". But then, where does the word "togs" come from.

football has several versions(all called football)and association football was mainly called soccer in the UK until somebody realized the American's wear calling it that as well and they thought that ,that was not quit cricket and went back to calling it football

all versions of football have evolved from a game similar to association football and Gaelic football but, probably closer to Gaelic football because it appears hands wear allowed in older times. so early accounts of matches report games with 50 or more people playing and it resembling a slightly organized brawl. probably one reason it was considered a peasants game

world wide the usage between the words soccer and football looks to be about equal with the word football having a small lead mainly because of the European block. most countrys that wear part of the British empire in the past tend to use the word soccer

I found a little soccer/football field next to Medhue Animations the other night. I have no idea if that's representative of soccer in SL or not. Maybe there are builds with more elaborate scripting involved...
