i can play freebie and original content police! giggling...nothing makes me madder than to see someone who clearly is selling free stuff. esp the items that are no mod and say in the title...FREE item. LOL i might want to put some things out phil...not sure yet, but your offer is certainly appreciated. and to whisper...is it REALLY necessary to be so rude...this is an effort of some folks to help each other based on a question that started in another thread. Where exactly do you suggest we PUT it if not here???

Actually not a bad idea, Oryx As a separate venue, why not create a sort of collective for those who have just a few creations to sell. Like a flea market. Each person would be allowed a certain number of prims, perhaps, to fit into a certain amount of space, and pays rent to the sim/group owner to cover his/her costs and to pay for advertising. I'm sure this sort of arrangement must already exist in SL. Would be cool to have something like that for this group.

brann there are many of those around...also some that are just free to place your own items there. just go to all search and look for free yard sale. when i first started out by doing resales, that is how i sold things.

I don't have anything to sell, but I will come shop If I see any freebie resellers I will make a big prim arrow that points at them! Ok not really but I will send someone a note *wink*

From: 3Ring Binder Phil, what's your policy on hovertext if we don't have a pic on the box? I don't have a policy - we're playing by ear. But I don't see any reason not to use hovertext if it helps. From: 3Ring Binder what is the beginning/end dates of the sale? i'm not sure when i can get over to get my stuff out. It will start on Friday and last for a week. So there is plenty of time to set things out. Just find a likely looking spot and get to it. From: 3Ring Binder f we do put something out that is a freebie, we can just tell each other when we spot it, and reset the price to L$0 and still get rid of it without having to throw it in the trash. I'd rather that any freebies that are mistakenly put out are removed when it's realised. I really don't want it turning into a "get rid of the unwanted freebies and dollarbies because someone might want them" event. Those items are available elsewhere.

I've sent the notecard to Oryx, and Jojo - 3ring already has it. It contains the LM. I've sent group invites to Oryx, Jojo and 3ring. Remember you need to have the group tag on when rezzing things. You can leave the group either after the event, or after you've placed your stuff unless you're likely to want to place more later. From: Oryx Tempel Also, Phil, and I hate to mention this... eventually you're going to get someone trying to sell their own creations (i.e. using your yard sale as a free shop for them.) It's tacky, but it's going to happen. Just FYI. I know that's a possibility, Oryx, but if something is spotted, all of the person's stuff will be returned and s/he will be ejected from the group so that s/he can't try it again (it's an invitation only group).

As I said earlier, we're playing by ear and noticing things as they crop up. So...
The dark blue wall is the one that can be moved back for more space, so don't put things on it. It isn't mentioned in the notecards that I've sent out.

Phil - i put some stuff out that i've been dying to get out of my inventory for a long time now! i have taken up a LOT of space trying to push myself to the prim limit. it would be absolutely ridiculous if i placed any more out there. LOL it would look trashy if i squished it any closer together, so wanting to make sure you approve.

There is space in abundance, 3ring, so I approve It's better to allow people to walk between things than scrunch them up together.

Stuff is getting set out and the sale doesn't start until Friday BUT...
Things are already selling!!! I tested the parcel to make sure it showed up in the dropdown list - so that the event can be posted every day. To do that, I set it to show in search, which is why things are already selling. So there's merit in getting your stuff set out as soon as you can.
Leave the existing open space on the blue wall - that's the wall that I'll move back (for more space) as the current area gets more stuff in it. Also, don't put anything on the blue wall please.

It Starts Tomorrow (Friday)
02-19-2009 03:48
The event will be posted today, ready for tomorrow.
Some people have put their things out but some haven't. If you still want to partake in the week-long event, please set your things out as soon as you can now.
Also, a few people who wanted to partake, didn't accept the group invite. That's fine, but if you still want to partake, please IM me for a group invite again.

We have a problem
02-19-2009 05:55
I started a thread to ask the maximum height for an event to be listed in the Events tab, and was told that it's 1024m. But, after encountering a problem when trying to list the event, and talking with live help, it seems that it's the maximum height is 768m. I'd set up at 950m but I've had to lower it to 750m, which means that those people who had set their stuff out will need to take it back and set it out at the new height, and hopefully today because the event is planned to start tomorrow (Friday). I'll send a notecard to everyone involved, including the new LM, which is:- http://slurl.com/secondlife/Seymour/96/128/752Hopefully we can get it all set up again in time for tomorrow. And hopefully the lower height will work!

We're up and running!
The "event" starts at noon today (Friday) in the Events tab, and will run for a week.
It's not too late to join in. There is plenty of space and plenty of spare prims. Stuff can be placed anytime through the week - preferably sooner rather than later to give it chance to sell.
