This came about from 3Ring's "Yard Sale" thread a couple of days ago, and is being organised by HoneyBear and myself. It is for forum users to sell off unwanted inventory items, and is not for selling anything commercial or for profit, or for disposing of freebies and dollarbies. The sale will last for a week, starting next Friday (20th Feb), and items can be layed out in preparation starting now. Everyone is welcome to join in and sell their unwanted things. Location: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Seymour/96/129/952If you want to join in, please let me know, either by posting here, or by PM or IM, and I'll give you a notecard about it. If it goes well, we are thinking of leaving the walled platform in place (it's at 950m) and maybe having a regular inventory clearance sale - every 2 or 3 months or so.

@Ciaran. Yes please I'll send you both group invites. Having the group tag on will allow you to place things. ETA: I've sent the group invites and the notecards. Pick a spot and place your stuff. Start at the west end please. The east wall can be moved back as needed, so we'll grow from the west end

Excellent idea! I'd like to participate as well. Thanks for doing this!
Do clothes count too? Should we put them in boxes? and should we put a pic on the box? What do you think?

Judging by the responses, I may need to reduce the prim limit but we'll see how it goes. We're playing it by ear at the moment. As the week goes by things will be sold (hopefully) and other things can be put out.
Marin. Clothes certainly count. If you don't have the original box that the clothes came in, I'd suggest rezzing the clothes so that people can see what they are. On the other hand, if you can go to the trouble of taking pics and boxing them, it would help.

Where is the question?
This has no place in resident answers. Move it to someplace else.

So far, there are about 7 people who will be selling their unwanted inventory at the week-long event. There is prim and space room for more.
I sent notecards to everyone, but I forgot to put the LM in it - hence the fire in my store lol. The SLURL in the first post can be used to get there, and an LM can be taken once there.

I have quite a bit of no-copy stuff that could find a good home. But how can you tell what was once a freebie (and therefore unethical to sell) and what was originally purchased? While many freebies are quite recognizable as such, I'm sure I have some that are of good quality (or I wouldn't still have them).

That's difficult, Brann. I guess it's a case of trying not to put original freebies out as far as memory allows.

one of my original questions was about pricing. i've been to sales where they charge L$300-L$500 for stuff - that is not a yard sale to me. i would think 0-100 is sale priced, what does everyone else think? Phil, what's your policy on hovertext if we don't have a pic on the box? what is the beginning/end dates of the sale? i'm not sure when i can get over to get my stuff out. if we do put something out that is a freebie, we can just tell each other when we spot it, and reset the price to L$0 and still get rid of it without having to throw it in the trash.

I'd like to join in. I've got about a trillion plants from my landscaping days.
Also, Phil, and I hate to mention this... eventually you're going to get someone trying to sell their own creations (i.e. using your yard sale as a free shop for them.) It's tacky, but it's going to happen. Just FYI.
