From: Ciera Spyker Seriously. RC7 is enough to make me quit SL.
That kinda thing makes me think you already want to quit...if the game working a bit oddly in a test viewer makes you quit, then you're probably not here for much... But anyway, hope you were exaggerating.

From: Ciera Spyker I HATE it. RC7 wont work for me at all. I so much want RC6 back. RC7 just chunks and balks and my computer stops every 10 seconds to process lord knows what. RC6, It went like 6 hours before I'd hit a glitch. after the pain of 1.19....... RC6 was super.
Seriously. RC7 is enough to make me quit SL.
Hell I shut RC7 off 5 minutes ago and its still churning out something here. PLEASE give me a option to go back to 6
Now make that 7 minutes at least of second life still shutting down or doing something. In another thread you posted your computer doesn't meet specs and you were considering a new one. That's probably part of your reason right there. test viewers aren't a good idea if you have an underpowered machine. You may want to roll back to a previous viewer until you have a better machine.

Honey I'm commited, make no doubt about that. I've bought close to 10,000 sqm of land and have invested a lot already. I was expressing the level of frustration with a new item that had previously worked well with a my underpowered system. A system a lot of people out there as noobs will enter with. I have my reasons for exploring its use in SL.
I'm upgrading systems eventually, but as I see it, LL needs to have a viewer setup that can accomadate non power users as well.
If belonging to Sl means you have to have the very best and latest of everything tech, your going to lose a lot of potential members. This smacks to me of some users feeling above it all and for everyone else is its just "to bad" if they can't log on.
Some threads here makes me wonder is some people would prefer they were the ONLY ones populating SL and everyone else is whos online is just a pest.

From: Ciera Spyker blahblahblah long post, snipsnip for courtesyquote I didn't mean to imply (If I did) that you should quit, just seems like you were rather quick to say it, and this being text and all, I've no idea how serious the statement was. Anywho, the RC is going to be forever changing, and new things will be added, things will be fixed AND unfixed, and so on so forth. The thing is, that's what LL uses the RC for, it's essentially a second-phase beta viewer. If the 1.19 viewer is better at the moment, use that. LL realized they made some mistakes, and the RC7 was pulled from download (Is it still?) and such, so yeah, this one had some problems for a lot of people. For me it's better than RC 1.2.6, aside from the changes to search. It runs smoother, sculpts work right, skirts are fixed, the scripting additions work properly, the mist-people are cool, etc etc. For you, apparently it broke it. Doesn't mean they totally killed the viewer, just means that they did something that breaks it a bit for your computer (And, a lot of others too, but not everyone) I don't know how bad 1.19 is for you, but if the RC isn't cutting it, 1.19 is probably a better choice for now.

Hmm it's not that you need the latest and best, the latest office spec machines fail at running SL as do the best game machines from 4 years ago, but you do need a game spec machine of some sort, but having said that the best don't necesaarily run SL better than mid spec games machines do. But on SL overkill usually helps for how long before you need to upgrade. Unfortunately for many this is an evolvoing world, and those that can't keep up will be left behind, to not evolve is to be stuck in the 20th century with Commodore 64 graphics like Activeworlds............. When they upgrade the avatar mesh again people will be left behind, just like Windlight. Then Puppeteering and other things will come in, My 2yo games PC has felt WL 's effect, and I am starting to build my replacement well before this one has to run on minimum settings. The content has to evolve too, sorry if Havok1 cars built in 2004 don't work properly in Havok4, but basically their performance sucked, and really altering Havok4 to make earlier stuff run is silly and choking it.

If you start with a low mid end system and then replace when needed. You can upgrade when money allows. If want to play on a cozy level then you need to spend money from the start. I myself started with a p3 intel 384 memory and played for awhile. Until i buildt a system which matched Sl abilites. I do not crash these days unless the UI is .............well badly buildt as in the beta stages.................My filber optical line outruns LLABS servers i can`t say others but mid line computers with a very good connection is all you need.
