Weird. I was not aware of there being any issues with visa gift cards. I got a new one today, registered it at the card's site (provided my name, address, etc) so I can use it for online purchases. I go and enter it as my SL form of payment info. No problems there. Then I go to buy Lindens and the order doesn't go through. I go back to the card's wesbite and although I cannot spend $20 with the card to buy L, Linden Labs was able to charge the card $1. I wonder what the heck this $1 charge is? Do they charge just for putting a card on file with them?

i received this reply from paypal when i asked about using a pre paid visa:

We have recently started using "Green DOT" cards.

Log in to your PayPal account.
Click "Add Funds" at the top of the page.
Click "Add funds from a Green Dot MoneyPak." We'll take you to the
secure Green Dot website, where you'll enter your MoneyPak number and
complete your transaction.
Here's some more information:

There are no PayPal fees to add funds from your Green Dot MoneyPak.
You can transfer up to $2,000 USD a month from a Green Dot MoneyPak to
your PayPal account.
You cannot withdraw funds from a PayPal account to a Green Dot MoneyPak.

If you have additional questions about Green Dot, go to the moneypak.com
website and click "FAQ" at the top of the page.

Buying L$ from the LindeX requires that you have either a verified PayPal account

(verified to U.S. standards, which includes having a credit card on file with PayPal and

having a Verified Shipping Address), or a credit/debit card that can be put on file

(sometimes referred to as accepting "recurring payments";). If that's not an option with

your gift card, you might instead add L$ to your XstreetSL account here:

https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=LindenDollars&deposit=true; then you can

transfer the L$ to your SL account if desired.

Regards,
Linden Lab Billing

ok they had my attention at this:
