Okay, so...
i know the mainland really well. You all know this. I mean, wanna know some obscure fact? The location of the only still existing items from LindenWorld in 2003 that are still inworld today? Want to know where every major mole build is in Bay City? Know where the "giant siphon" is, or the "grief containment pond? Ya. it's a geek talent. Heck, I did a whole post earlier about new infohubs.
So there's an egg contest going on, an i started off by going to where I found a golden heart last time. An well, I found a golden egg. Not in the same spot, mind you. In fact, it was in the place I'd looked for a golden heart right off the bat in February and did't see one. Anyway, I got it.
So I figure "great! Let's find the others!" That is, the non prize ones. I did manage to put together a complete set of the Linden Hearts, and it would be fun to have the eggs too. So I started to check some of my favorite mainland haunts. one of those is Oak Grove, the old Wild West Town. Was there just last night checking to see if anything had been fixed. So I'm looking about and the gun cabinet calls to me about the shooting gallery game (never heard that before in my times going through there) and, well... i spy an egg underneath the gun cabinet. It turns out to be another golden heart one.
So I guess I feel a little sheepish. I mean, I got 'em fairly, but maybe I have an unfair advantage. I know mainland. Given enough of a headstart, and I could likely have plenty of others. I know a couple of the other winners also know the mainland really well too, so its not entirely a "Give Mari a prize" contest. But I still feel weird about it.
Add to that that I do spend a fair amount of time "in the company of Lindens." I was at the brown bag today on the adult stuff, mainly because of a long history of dealing with kidstuff and trying to make sure the GTeam and LL act fairly. My interest in mainland and places like Bay City have put me in contact with more than a couple Lindens on a regular basis. Also, I'm in the Bay Area and have friends from before there was an SL who now work at 945 Battery. It would be *very* easy to paint a portrait of favoritism. Ironic in a way, given my history in SL as a "child avatar advocate."
Anyway, I do have a question in all this. Was me getting that second egg okay, I mean from my side of things? Should I ask a Linden to take it back and return it to he mix to that others get a chance? What would ya'll do?

Maybe you could swap it for a job offer, Mari?

You found the egg fairly...there is no reason you should not keep it.

It's completely wrong of you. The only appropriate penance is to say five Our Lindens and give the prize to me.

Unless the prize is free tier on a private sim for a year, I don't think anybody else would appreciate it as much as you do, Mari. For that matter, the same may well be true if the prize *were* free tier on a private sim for a year. You might mention that to your Linden friends.

I kinda forgot about the egg-hunt part of the event, since the Lindens didn't seem bothered to re-announce when it started.
I wouldn't have a clue where to look, so Mari, you better be out there hunting for me by proxy.

WooHoo!!!!!! Way to go Mari! I can not think of one person who deserves a golden egg, none the less two, then you! Enjoy your $L10,000 shopping spree in xstreet and post a lot of pics please. I only wish that it was something that could have been applied directly towards your current fiscal situation. I also find myself in the somewhat awkward position of agreeing with Pep Maybe LL should create an Honorary Linden position along the lines of Diversity Goodwill Ambassador. Or even better, hire you directly to act as their conscience.

it was fair, Mari.... the old WA at Ahern had a shooting gallery at one time, along with balloon tours. To ease your mind have a alt do the same, see ig it is also called by the gallery

From: Jesse Barnett I also find myself in the somewhat awkward position of agreeing with Pep Could we get something straight? It is just as ludicrous to expect to disagree with me all the time as it would be to agree with me every time! Pep (Agreement doesn't mean we're both right, whereas disagreement means that one of us is)

If the Lindens are gonna be lazy and just hide stuff in all the same places they did last time, then we should expect the same people to find them. I'm a bit disappointed in them for doing that, not in Mari for finding them. She got them fair-n-square.

I'm a bit disappointed in them for doing that, not in Mari for finding them. She got them fair-n-square. Haven't had a chance to pop in for the egg hunt yet but I did the Heart Hunt. In that one I even had a cheat sheet(after all of the money hearts were gone) I could look at with the exact locations and those "same places" is a huge amount of territory and still took a lot of time. The amount of Linden Land in SL is minuscule compared to the whole. Actually covering it all and trying to spot small objects is another matter entirely.

As others have said: keep it; you found it on your own, with no one else's help. And truly, I can't think of someone I'd rather have had find more than one "golden ticket."

Thanks all for your comments, I really appreciate them. Even Donald Sutherland, above. I did drop a note to the Linen In Charge (LIC?) of the contest, who noted that the rules say "one prize per person." As such, I'm gonna see if she can't jes take that second one and re-position it... somewhere. I did put some of my suggestions on the blog for where to look: https://blogs.secondlife.com/community/community/blog/2009/04/06/second-life-bunnyjam-contests-egg-hunts-more#comment-761181Thanks again!
