That quote shouldn't be taken in isolation, imo. The sentence after it is also part of it. However, in view of Erin's post, I withdraw my opinion

To be fair, I can understand why they did what they did. When there's dodgy money in the system, a complete lockdown of everyone connected makes sense - freeze it before it spreads even further.
What I don't agree with was, as Beezle says, the lack of communication. I didn't even know I'd been banned until I phoned, let alone for what reason. I know that at that point they couldn't know whether I was guilty or not, but some sort of explaination that could go to everybody - "Your account has been suspended due to contact with BAAAAD MONEY while we work out what to do about it, sorreh" would have been better than "You can't log in. Hah!". EDITED to add something useful to the topic: It's a really good idea to keep track of your sales via email, so you're not relying on transaction history alone. I doubt things would have resolved differently if I didn't have my email records, but because I did, I was able to search whilst on the phone and find out right away that I did get money from the guy in question, which just made me feel a bit more confident and less OMGYOUBANNEDMEWHATDIDIDO?. |

Yes, that was very bad of them. I wonder if they took the same action with every bit of the money that was spent, or if it was the amount of it that got you out.

Your addition is an interesting one, because the account history won't have been available to you. I download mine and keep it all in an Excel file, though it can be a week out of date.

What if they bought a whole bunch of 'freebie' boxes for $1? I suppose there's no way of knowing. But there'd be a hell of a lockdown if that did happen, I guess! 600 isn't a lot, but it's a fair enough chunk, so I don't know whether they'd found out about the money before, or if that sale triggered it. I'd hope that if they can trace that amount to me, they would also be able to see every other dollar spent from that money. Not that I'd like to see other sellers banned because of that one stupid person, but I just wonder how it works. I'd guess people who skank money use it for big purchases rather than, say, lots of DJ tips, but still - it'd be interesting to know what LL looks for as fraud and who they suspend. |

Yeah, I'm pretty anal about my sales Often times, I can't bear the thought of working when I get home from RL work, but the general theory is - I get emailed for every sale. Every night I (should) check my emails, and copy every sale into Excel - then I can keep an eye on what's selling well, anything I need to refund, all that. I've only ever used the SL transaction history when there's been a vendor glitch due to lag, and someone says they paid but I didn't get an email, or vise versa. If I don't have an email about a sale someone mentions, I check Transactions. If it's there, it's a fault my side.If everything's working well, I get an email for every sale - so even if the SL transaction history is behind - there should still be an email in my inbox saying "Avatar x paid $X for product "...X", so I can sort it out. |

it'd be interesting to know what LL looks for as fraud and who they suspend. Somebody buys some cheap L$ from someone. How can the place(s) they spend it be involved? In what way? A vendor tells someone they can get some cheap L$ at such and such a place, so that they can come back and buy his/her goods? Even that's hardly an involvement - or maybe it is - money laundering. But one-off items? Naaa. Their thinking is wrong, imo. _____________________
