They told me to say that. They were getting too much 'work' at the time and were seriously low on energy.

On the contrary. I think he recognized the new business opportunity and is busy answering the flood of queries. Nothing like a good hoe-bot.

Sorry for not getting back to you all about the 'services' bots, but I do have to sleep :)

Today I've been 100% occupied with either watching sport on TV or with recompiling all the scripts in the store and on my land back to LSL, hoping it might fix a problem that is frequently occuring in the sim. Anyway...

I'm sorry to disappoint you all but I've retired the bots and the sale is off. They have already gone to bot heaven. There have been a number of negative things in and concerning SL recently (the new bots policy is *not* one of them) and the worst one was something I saw just before I went to bed last night. For a while now I've been trying to make the sim ground a little nicer, which isn't easy to do considering it's almost all rock. One of the things I've done is build a large medieval castle - unfinished, but what's there looks quite nice. I've spent a lot of time on it, and I've enjoyed doing it. I even went so far as to put castle guards there, that walked around the castle and sim, sat at a table for a break, and so on.

I went down to it before I turned in last night and what I saw made my heart sink. The owner of a 1024 plot in front of the castle had put a fucking great black builing there. It covers the 1024 and is as high as the clouds. It's not doing anything - it's just there. The owner has a business on another 1024 in the sim, also with a building of the same size, but away from the castle. It's because of the size and look of the business building that I built the castle where I did. The 1024 in front of the castle has been left empty for a long time.

The whole castle thing looks a bit silly now so I retired the guards and, with them, the traffic bots, as my heart has gone out of things. I'll still use the store models if I get what's wriong with the sim fixed.

Phil, we've had our differences, but I'm sorry this has happened to you.

I'd stack all your bots up along the border, just staring at the black monstrosity.

hehe. Unfortunately, the owner of the big black building would likely just laugh at them. As far as i can tell the building is just there for the sake of being there, and not for any use it could be put to. It feels like it's intended to stick 2 fingers up at me for some reason that I'm unaware of. If you pop over to see it, you'll see what I mean.

It did occur to me that the owner may not be much longer in the sim. Her business is about sex and she may have to move in a few months time. So I've decided to leave the castle as it is (still a long way from being finished) and, for now, I've put 2 of the castle guards back. I may put the third one back later. The traffic bots remain in retirement though - they might as well stay out now, as they were going to disappear on Thursday anyway.

Ty for the comments about it. It's appreciated.

Maybe your bots lagging the sim all the time ????

Don't know but it could be the reason.

The bots never did lag the sim, but it's quite possible that the black building owner thinks they do.

If you mean the lag that I'm talking about in another thread, your suggestion is maybe even more likely to be true. Even I removed the bots to make sure they were nothing to do with that particular lag but the building owner couldn't do that.

On the other hand, I did IM the person to ask why she put the building up - in a nice way - "May I ask why ... etc ...". If it was a protest about the bots she would most likely tell me, but I haven't received any reply.

Is this at your store Phil? I would love to see the guard bots, that sounds cool.

Maybe a couple of bots could operate a catapult to launch cows against the other building. If the building is all the way to the edge, and the cows exploded on impact, they couldn't even complain about you sending prims onto their land.

It's on the ground below the store. TP to Seymour from the map - you can't miss it.

There's one guard who is on the wall and who patrols around the north side of the sim. The other is based in the guard room, inside the entrance on the south wall. If either of them is sitting down, wait a few minutes - it will get up, do its round and then sit down again for 5 mintes. If either of them is standing still for more than a minute, then it's stuck and will start again from it's sitting place 10 minutes after it set off on its last move - so anything up to 10 minutes. They sometimes have to do that due to the collisions not being 100% reliable. There are transparent pads along the routes - they go from pad to pad. If the collision with the destination pad doesn't fire, the system doesn't know that it has arrived there and doesn't tell it to to go to the next one, so it just stands there. If it hasn't arrived at the pad by 10 minutes after it set off to it, it is TPed back to the start and it starts again - with a 5 minute sit. They sometimes end up in the oddest of places due to those collisions :)
