Actually she never used the word "normal" anyway, she said "different from the mainstream."

A lot of people seem to feel (if articles about SL are anything to go by - granted a lot of those are a year or more old) that most people choose to be slim, 'beautiful' (magazine definition of beauty) and white in SL. The OP may be trying to show that SL is more diverse than many expect.

Anyhow she never said normal. /slinks away

...and as for the "human-centric" nature of the question, the reasons for choosing a human who is not the stereotypical magazine beauty may well be rather different than the reasons for choosing something entirely non-human, so it's a fair enough way to slice the topic.

It could be interesting to hear whether choosing an "everyday human" is actually a way to be "different" in SL, standing out from the SL norm where, say, emo-grunge nekos and blonde supermodels are a dime a dozen (no offense intended to anybody).

Has the "different" become so normal that you need to be normal to be different?

(And as Ceka, I count "different" as something positive, and "normal" is here intended to mean "statistically typical";).

exactly..that is why i said what i said..To show that the meaning of different has nothing to do with being normal or not normal..
The person i quoted was misunderstanding that as not normal and i just wanted to show them that the meaning of not being normal never even comes up in the definition of of the word different.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Why is the question so human-centric?

What about robots?
Furries?
Tiny little pirate ships?

Because I am looking at it from a human-centric point of view!

I tend to keep my avatar short in height, about 5'6" and under. Sometimes as short as 4'5". (Not including creature avatars)
I don't have a child avatar. I just like being short if this counts. :)
Also I like giving her a bit of chub and body fat, just a touch. I hate sticks.
