Why has my group been disbanded..
I paid the 100$ to set up a group for my SL buissness and a week later it gets deleted for having less than 2 members WTF…
And they keep the $100, then to make it worse I have NO avenue of appeal as SL staff will not respond to a free account users questions..
This is a real slap in the face you lot, some residents are trying to make a go of it and have a good time here. Then you go and pull this rubbish. As far as I care I paid for the group its mine to do with what I want and how dare you delete with zero comunication or compensation.
And don’t give me the “if we had hundreds of single user groups the system would slow down and it would increase server space requirements ect…” the only warning I was given when I set up the group was the big note that says “do you really want to set up this group” no other information was provided or terms of group use..
How many thousand groups are there with 3 members that havent been used for 6 months are there?
Very poor effort SL , poor indeed.

Just be glad you did not buy land for the group. That would have been lost too. On the plus side, L$100 is less than 50 cents US. I have run into many more expensive pitfalls in SL.

Yeah, that is one of the things we have to agree to when we create groups. Sorry you had to learn about reading the fine print the hard way. But remember, it didn't cost you 100 dollars, it cost you 100 lindens, that would cost 40 cents or less if you could even buy that small of an amount. You wouldn't have an appeal on this even if you had a fancy account, LL policy is not to restore groups that are abandoned this way, sorry. Always keep a free alt account around for these things!

It states very plainly in the Knowledge Base that 2 members are required to be in a group or it will be disbanded within 48 hours. Use to be that 3 members were required. Here is a link to the article: https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417

Silly question, but how many did you have in your group?
If you're creating a group for future use, but don't yet have a 2nd or 3rd member, invite a few of your friends until you get set up.
If it's a one person group, wouldn't it be a single?

why do i have to go to the knowledge database to find such a thing...
i know how to use the system, i know how to set up a group and run it.. SL should make it part of the terms of use if they want this rubbish idea to float.$* hours is not any where near a worth while time limit. its a money making scheme is all if it happens 1000 times a year at .50 cents a go...
thats 500$US per year linden make for providing nothing and doing the same amount of nothing.
yes i know it is nothing in RL$ but im not a paying resident so to me it is a waste of 100$ i could have spent of stuff for my studio. that is a 12th of my monthly rent or a lens pack or 10 uploads.. its money no matter how you look at it.
no it is not fair i had 4 invites outstanding waiting to be accepted.
i thankyou all kindlly for your input, at least the residents are level headed good folks.
Pity about the company running the show, it is a fact NOTHING WILL CHANGE but i am still annoyed with SL, and quite simply think it is a huge load Bull Droppings.

Creating a group is the number one reason to have an alt. Then you don't have to worry about the groups disbanding, because no one has accepted your invitations.. or because everyone but you decides to leave the group.

i know how to use the system, i know how to set up a group and run it Um... pardon me for saying, but if the group was disbanded for not having two or more members, even though it is clearly stated, then surely you *don't* know how to set up a group and run it?

If someone from the Lab didn't phone you up and call you names then I'd say you got more than 36 cents worth of customer service out of them.

How long does it take for a group name to become available again?

From: Nerys Ninetails why do i have to go to the knowledge database to find such a thing... i know how to use the system, i know how to set up a group and run it.. Clearly you don't. As you see in the screenshot in the posting by Viktoria Dovgal, you do get a warning when creating the group. The fact you clicked OK without reading the text, is not Linden Labs fault but your own. And more, you state yourself you are a non-paying member, yet you expect them to give you service after you did not read the text on the button you clicked. Well, not everything in life is free. Pay to become premium, and you have better support options. Which in this case would only lead to a reply from LL to read before you accept though. Might not sound friendly, but I am getting tired of people bashing LL for not working for them for free. I'm feeling sorry for your 50 cents, but it's not much money for a lesson Greetings Marcel

From: Nerys Ninetails @Broccoli Curry - lmao fair call. i'll agree maybe the knowledge DB would be a good place to stop once in a while. still doesnt make i right but. For those of us who have been here a while, we often get people coming up bashing LL for things that have happened, only to be told by a dozen different people that there are safeguards, tickboxes, confirmations etc to prevent it happening - selling land to "anyone" for L$1 when there is nobody else in the region except your friend next to you who is going to buy it, and it gets stolen by a bot is a common one - but it is basically par for the course that however many safeguards etc that are put in, people don't read them before clicking. Whilst I can understand your upset, it was only about 50 cents of real money ... rather than $100+ worth of land, for example. It seems like you're taking it in good spirit, which is certainly better than upping and quitting (some have quit for far less financial damage - like finding out the hottie cheerleader they cybered with is actually a 50 year old trucker called Barry). Stick with it. SL has its quirks, but most things do, and you'll look back on this in a few months time and chuckle.

Older viewers didn't have that sentence about needing at least one more member. I don't know exactly when that was added. We all got bumped to 1.19 in time that the text was probably there, but there is that possibility that an older client was in use that would make the abusive remarks a little over the top.
Is anyone still running a 1.18-based viewer that can go through the motions of creating a group, to see what that dialog says?

OK, I still had Nicholaz BE-V0b installed, and can see that version of the dialog box did _not_ yet have the one member warning. So, if this group was created before April 4, there were still supported clients out there without the warning.

At the end of the day 100l$ isnt alot to pay twice but thats impossible because LL never release the group name again if you try to remake it says name taken the name is lost forever .This is one of the most stupid rules ive ever seen groups deleted to free up names but the names never get freed up Lindens deserve to get bashed.

Groups can be replaced with nearly identical names, punctuation is allowed for example. Since groups can own objects, it does make sense not to recycle them, the grid would have to be scanned for any of those and something would have to be done with them.

Good point but would better if you could just have your original name back .I wouldnt even mind if you had to wait a month or somthing for it to be availible again. To never be able to use the name again is plain stupid.
